Spring Cleaning turned out to be a sham

As I sit here staring at a box filled with item ID staffs and wands, I wonder why I would even bother turning them in. They are only worth 500 points. After saving them for ~7 years it seems kind of sad that their point value is only comparable to worthless items such as 110 power scrolls. But so what, at least I have 100 of these right?

Well then came the Royal Council Murder event, which let you get 50,000 spring cleaning points very easily and quickly. Suddenly I have no desire to bother with Spring Cleaning anymore. The rewards have been cheapened beyond belief. The 300 million points collection on Atlantic prior to the event has ballooned to over 750 million. Every player had the opportunity to collect at least 250,000 points per character. Then you add in 6th/7th character slots, multiple accounts and cross shard trading. The amount of points someone could get via not cleaning up anything is just outrageous. One container of ID items has turned into 30 minutes of time in the current event.

It probably won't be realized by many for some time. But by giving out these 25,000 point tickets so freely has cheated a lot of players out of their hard earned and collected items. It certainly isn't fair that one player could clean out their house of items they spent years getting only to be outdone by another running the event for a couple of days.

I must agree. Turned me off big time. Oh well, guess that crap will live for a few more years in my house. Not worth the time of effort.

Yeah it was a sham. But then again just about everything in UO is a sham at this point from the economy, items, dupes, collections in terms of worth or value. Really this whole turn in has kinda been a microcosm of what happened to UO over it's life just in super fastforward mode. Just like everything in the turn in is pretty worthless just about everything in game is pretty worthless at this point including gold. I mean why even waste time killing anything for a few gp when gold sells for what .50 cents a million now or something close to that. I mean to "really" hunt for your gold or whatever you must value your time being worth what like .02 cents an hour? That's just stupidity. Everything in the game has been devauled in a similar way to these spring cleaning rewards. Why would they turn out any differently? I think the devs just want people to enjoy the game while it's still around at this point there really isn't much left for UO to do other than die. I think they are probably at the point where they figure they might as well let eveyone have everything before EA shuts us down for good. Who knows....

yeah, we should keep those young in their place! no way they should have any fun in this game. they can go die with the rest of us in those uber events!
that said...
yeah, lots of people figured out the young advantage, but the real young at least had a chance. i'd rather see the real young having a shot at something, and people taking advantage of it, then the real young having to sit out yet another event.
cool your jets and realize the clean up was for -everybody-, not intended to make the rich, richer; nor the older account more elite.
