Spellweaving Tamer Vs Necro Tamer

Which is better, or more flexible? I want to be able to do stuff solo since my shard is mostly dead, but I want to have fun doing tough stuff in a group when my buddies log on.

I don't have or plan on getting SA any time soon.

Thanks

Both are quite viable, though the suit can be a bit trickier on necro/tamer due to skill cap constraints.

I prefer to use my weaver/tamer for peerless and my necro/tamer for champion spawns. But again, both are quite fun.

What's a good weaver tamer template?

What are its advantages?

I know Necro Tamer brings wither and wraith form to the table. If we're with a GD on foot anyway, Wraith/Wither is actually a nice bonus

Thanks

Weaver Template
120 taming
120 lore
120 vet
120 magery
120 meditation
120 weaving

The only skill in that mix that HAS to be 120 is spellweaving. The rest can go as low as 110 (I even had 100 vet and meditation for a while and added EI in the mix, but I like this version better).

Advantages: Gift of Life - instant ressurection of your pet
Gift of renewal - it's like a mini-heal every second. Hard to beat that for healing
Ethereal voyage - get to hard to reach places without using your valuable honor points
Essence of wind - eliminate lower level spawns in just slightly longer than your necro-mage counterpart.
And everyone's favorite, Word of Death - a minimum of 300 damage to nearly any opponent when its life is lower than 30% (given level 6 arcane focus)
Arcane empowerment - when cast before word of death, adds significant spell damage increase

Situationally benificial:
summon imp: only if you have a pair of fire steeds. I doubt anyone actually uses them.
Wildfire: when facing ninja opponents, most notably Travesty, it gets rid of all the mirror images for a few seconds.
Attunement (or attune weapon): useful if you can't avoid that melee attack.

Disadvantages:
A huge mana hog
You'll be a slave to the arcane circle. If your shard doesn't have circle-campers, then finding a high level focus can be time consuming.

For 70% of every fight, your pet will be doing all the work and you'll just be healing.

Gift of Life says "Target: Self" when I drag it to my hotbar. I'm unable to cast it on a pet even when targeting a pet. Same with many of the other spells I thought would benefit my pets. Any idea why?

Thanks

I can cast gift of life on my pet. Try again. If it doesn't work, send a bug report.

I have both on my tamer. My temp is:

120 spellweaving
115 lore
110 taming
100 Med
90 vet
90 magery (110 with items)
40 Necro(75 with items)
40 ss (60 with items)

I mainly stay in wraith but i use lich when im strictly healing my dragon for mana regen. The mana i leech back from wraith is alone worth it. No need to take necro and ss any higher. I dont need wither or strangle for this temp, and the only familiar that i use is a wisp. And this is even rare being as tho i have a greater on me most the time(5 slots). I had gm necro and gm ss and no vet...but relying on others for pet rezes stinks so i put vet back on. I love this temp. i used to be strictly a sw tamer but i like this version way better. It rocks at spawns and peerless.

i found out why. when using the client with Legacy targeting mode I can cast spellweaving Gift Of Life on my bonded pets and myself. When NOT using legacy targeting, the icon of Gift Of Life on my hotbar for some reason says "Target SELF" and it will only self cast...

interesting point about lich and chain healing... even if one doesnt go necro mode for wraith+wither, lich can be very handy.. and since you're walking anyway with GD.................

JD I believe the SA client defaults certain spells to different targeting options, if you (I believe it is) right click on the icon it should bring up a context menu where you can change the default targeting options... you should have the option of choosing: Self, Cursor, Current Target, and Stored. You should be able to change Gift of Life to Stored and then Target your pet (if you always hunt with the same pet) and that will make it so it will always cast that spell on your favorite pet. If you hunt with different pets then Current Target or Cursor may be better options for you. Granted I use the new SA client targeting options so this may not work with the Legacy option enabled.
