[Spellweaving] Spellweaving tactic

When i first saw people using high level spellweaving, i saw people controlling arctic ogre lords a lot. It seemed to work well for them.

Does anybody do this anymore? i haven't seen anybody doing it now.

I don't use spellweaving yet i was just wondering if that spell was still useful or if it had been changed. I'm also not 100% how it works.

Sorry if i seem inexperienced its because i am :lick:
But I'm really interested in trying it out:danceb:

Thank you

All humanoid creatures can be "allured" with spellweaving. Arctic Ogre Lords are probably the strongest available. The level of your focus does not determine the quality of the beast. It just increases the success chance for alluring. If you have no focus, you may need a couple more attempts.

I hardly use allured creatures, as they are too weak to survive high-end monsters. Besides, they cannot be resurrected or recall with you. If you recall away or log out, they go *poof*.

I do use the high end allured creatures for a very few applications.

For some peerless (Travesty, Dread Horn, Melisande), they are great for getting in more damage over time.

For low end champ spawns which aren't too far away from a dungeon entrance or gate, they are a good way to kill everything quickly in absolute safety. (Send in the ogre, follow up with essence of wind or wither, depending on template)

For my every day hunts, a summoned energy vortex or earth elemental is more practical since I can keep on summoning them.

You can gate them though. They are very useful for working skills. We also use Orge Lords in Despise when doing Barracoon. As long as you keep them healed, or use them as a secondary attacker, they're fine.

Do you command them like a pet?
And can you heal them without going grey?

Thank you for the help!

That's not what i expected and much cooler than i had imagined. I'm definitely going to try this out. What do you think the lowest skill in weaving you need to allure artics?
And whats a good tactic for getting an arctic ogre lord without getting myself whacked. I'm under the assumption that i'll be using both accounts and have one for gating around.

Any advice is awesome and thank you for the responses so far!

you can attempt to allure them at the minimum level whenever you can cast the spell. it will just fizzle or fail charming. you will gain successes the higher your spellweaving

Do they ever break it? Like if you're fighting can the spell stop working and they turn on you? Though that would make sense i havent heard of it

I use allure when out and about with buried treasure hunters. An ogre lord is a great pet to have on your side along with an archer or two, when the treasure chest starts spawning monsters. I've never had one break the spell, but that doesn't mean it couldn't happen.

It's also great with beasties like Titans and Cyclops. I haven't tried using the spell against higher end monsters, but only because my spellweaver isn't my first choice for those kinds of ventures.

I'm trying out everything like titans and cyclops also to see what they can handle, i'm not sure how many slots they take up though, Could you have one of each or does the spell only work one enemy at once?

It takes 3 slots for no matter what you charm.

Something I had fun with was bring an Arctic Ogre Lord to minotaur labyrinth and using the ogre to tank miasma, immune to poison makes miasma a piece of cake :)
