spellweaving huh

i was running through Brit a couple minutes ago, ran past the spellweaving circle and there was a stack of people on there getting a crystal.
couple minutes later i noticed a crystal in my backpack.... which is odd because i dont have any skill in SW.
historically you need to be within 20 points to proc a crystal off other SW.

so how did i with 0 skill get a LEVEL 6 crystal!!!!
like i understand JOAT must have played a roll in this, but there was 5 other no skill players there... why? and since when do zero skill players get a level 6 crystal?
very strange.

You can have zero skill points - but complete the Spellweaving quest line, get an Arcane Focus and then use a few of the spells that do not require high SW (i.e., Gift of Renewal). This is popular amongst PVP folk who want to be able to use GoR.

It depends on who cast the spell also. a 120 cast it and the time is lower from the less skilled ones. That's 4 hours short.

Maybe I am missing something here, but if your question is how to do an unskilled focus - here you go:

Steps:
1. Grab a character with Spellweaving that you want to get an arcane focus on,
2. Use a soulstone and remove their Spellweaving,
3. Get a human character with 0 skill in spellweaving (or whatever else with 20 skill) and who has completed the spellweaving quest (can be the original character),
4. Get as many people as you can together for an unskilled circle, (many people will grab alt/EJ accts)
4. Have that human char cast arcane focus,
5. Add Spellweaving back on.

It is much easier than doing a skilled focus, especially if your character isn't running spellweaving mastery.

Lvl 6 Arcane Focus is still useful with JoAT for Attunement and Gift of Renewal. Lvl 6 Focus JoAT Attunement can basically eat an entire Armor Ignore (and potentially save your ass) in PvP, and Gift of Renewal is useful even in PvM. My Death Ray Tamer/Mage © will run GoR on my Triton or Fire Beetle to keep heals going on it as i channel Death Ray.

I think the short of it is: if you unlock Spellweaving, you can have 0 skill points and still receive a useful arcane crystal (for the basic spells), providing you are a human character (for their passive "jack of all trades" ability).

I didn't know this either. I'm pretty sure I've done a bit of spellweaving on my main character before, but I have never inadvertently received a crystal. I will have to try this.

I always carry an Ankh pendant around to do the "Om" thing but I never bother actually using it, so I likely won't get into the habit of Arcane Focusing either...

I always found the little buffer of attunement useful (21 less damage on next hit) gift of renewal is still useful for the same reason, and so forth. You can endlessly make pixies as a distraction for mobs for the most part. Lots of fun uses. If I were more ambitious I'd get a 0/20 focus too lol. I bet some people might even just run a set of their own accounts to make it work lol...gotta make the most out of that jack of all trades!

People have been using EJ accounts stacked to get a level 6 circle for years.
In my opinion it is a hack.
You should need to do the spellweaving quest to contribute to the circle. Or you should at least require more than 0 spellweaving to obtain a level 6 circle.
