So today I got one of my vet accounts back from EA and I get my tamer/bard set up with certain spell out in certain spots on the screen. I get disconnected and when I return the spells are gone. Any tips on how to keep them out so I dont have to keep replacing them? This has happened 2 times, both times ending in a disconnect...could it be that I have to actually log out to make them stick?

If you are using the Enhanced Client, yes you have to log out instead of just exiting the game, to save the desktop.

For the Classic Client, I know something similar occurs when your client crashes after major desktop changes, some of the time. I've never deliberately closed the client without logging out first, in over 8 years, because of what I saw happen in said crashes, and figured it would happen the same way if I didn't log out.

In general, it's best to always log out your character THEN shut down the client.

Are you saying that when you place a spell icon in a certain spot on your desktop it causes the client to crash or are you saying you place the icons, disconnect and their not saved?

You might look in your char folders and make sure you don't have two folders for the same char. I once created a char then decided I didn't want to start with those skills so I deleted the char and made another with the same name. I would set-up the icons and when I logged back in, it would use the default desktop of the deleted char.

Another option is if you have a char that already has the icons set-up is to try copying that desktop to the char that your having problems with.

Logging out (not the red-x) saves the character/settings file. Most likely that's what you need to do to properly save them.
