Funny that he contradicts himself...he has seen cheaters get banned, yet never seen a speedhacker before...so if he's never seen the cheaters before, how can he know they've been banned?
No contradiction whatsoever. I don't think speedhacking is the issue that so many say it is. What's more, those with the real data, I'm pretty certain they agree with me. Speed hacking, if it ever was a real issue, which it probably was, was largely fixed over three years ago now when they capped client speed server side.
Ever since then my guess is that most of the complaining has been pvp'rs looking for an excuse as to why they just got their ass handed to them, or they couldn't get away, or they couldn't catch someone and give them the proper ganking they thought they deserved. My guess is there are still people using speed hacks, but I'm also pretty certain that the most those "speed hacks" are doing is offering is some kind of lag compensation.
I'll say it again. I don't use speed hacks, and in the year since I came back, in hundreds of hours of pvp'ing, in all kinds of contexts, I have yet to see anyone move faster than I do, unless I am lagging, and in the EC it is very easy to tell when you are lagging.
The major problem with cheating in UO isn't speed hacks, it is the use of third party applications, most of them "purpose built" for UO, to script game play - whether it is resource harvesting, repeatable quests, or pvp functions. And it would appear that based on the actions that have been taken recently that the devs largely agree with me.
I've been very consistent in this message, in spite of being trolled mercilessly over it, for a year now. There are no contradictions in what I have posted on this subject, the only contradictions that touch on what I have posted are the imaginary contradictions you have tried to create LC. You are a troll, doing what you typically do with little effect, and that is trolling.
You would think that you would have gotten the message by now that no one with any ability to affect any change is paying attention to what you, or any of the other trolls in this thread, post. If you want that to change, I suggest a few things. First, learn how to recognize the truth, and use that as the basis for your posts. Second, learn the fine art of constructive criticism.
If you want a smart child to do even better at her studies, you don't start by telling her she's an idiot and nothing she does is ever right. You start by paying attention and finding what she does well, and encouraging her, and commending her for those things. Then you find the things that need improvement, and discuss those in a way that is non-confrontational, and non-threatening.
That same basic template for constructive criticism applies to any person or group you wish to see change in ways that are positive. If all you do is insult and tear down you will get nowhere, and eventually no one will pay attention to anything you say. On a forum like this one all you are heading for is a long string of infractions, and eventually a ban if you don't gain a little wisdom...
edit: And for the record, I don't always follow my own advice. So yes, I'm not perfect when it comes to contradictions. I'm not always as "non-confrontational" as I should be. But it seems at times that there are those who don't respond to anything else...
