Special Crafting books & soulstones

I am just returning to UO and I am a bit short of gold so i'm reluctant to test this myself.
1. Are the special skills from the crafting books for GM crafters transferable by soulstones
2. Do you lose the special skill if you soul stone the skill?

The special crafting books are the ones for masonry, glassblowing, gem mining etc..

The answer to both questions:

The knowledge remains with the character.

While the base skill is stoned off, you can't access it, but once the skill is back to the requisite level, the special skill abilities kick back in.
If you transfer the base skill to another character, that character has to use the books as well. Though, if you felt like it, once both characters have read the same books (say, the mining books), you can bounce the base skill back and forth between them with the soulstone without losing the special skills on either.
