Sources of Loyalty Points

So, what is the easiest er, least deadly mob, for a craftsman to kill to gain loyalty points? My character has only 55.0 magery using +30 skill points for 85.0 total. I've been using blade spirits on Raptors but I'm looking for something a bit easier. Any suggestions?

You might want to try toxic sliths and sliths a few screens to the east of Royal City. My crafters run like little fiends while killing them with Mind Blast spells. It's tedious but in a couple of hours you'll reach 10,000 loyalty points. The toxic slith corpses can be cut up for horned leather and dragon blood. They occasionally drop slith tongues, venom sacs, items for the Axem quests (scroll and pottery fragments) that also give loyalty points and imbuing ingredients, about 400 gold, and a lot of items you can unravel.

There are usually one or two healers close to the bridge, so I suggest you pull the sliths not quite to the bridge while you kill them. That way you can retreat to the bridge area for a quick rez if you get poisoned and don't cure in time. Maybe put up a few blade spirits in the area you plan to pull them to. Not sure they're worth the mana though, as the sliths are pretty dogged about chasing you. Also, unlike many other creatures, I've noticed that the toxic sliths get a little burst of speed right before they run out of hit points, so don't let down your guard and let them get too close as you cast that last spell to kill them.

You may want to check with Percolem in Royal City and see if you can pull up a quest to kill the toxic sliths or regular sliths before you head out to kill them. That'll give you a few extra loyalty points, gold, gems, imbuing ingredients, and maybe a rare collectible book.

Thanks Tina, I'll give those a try.

I noticed the Raptors bolt pretty fast too when they're about to die. I also had many of them vanish into thin air, and I wasn't dragging them away at all really.

My crafter is just 47 magery, 89 with jewels and a +12 magery spellbook, and 0 eval, but he didn't have any problem gaining from 0 to 10,000 loyalty in one evening by tackling the toxic sliths. It took more like 4 hours, though, and he died 4 or 5 times.
The way I did it was to just keep trying until I finally summoned an EV, then lured them in and cast invisibility; with magery that low, your toon will sneeze about 8 or 9 times for every EV that succeeds. However, once he does succeed, all you have to do is to precast invisibility, run close enough for one of the sliths to target you, then run back to the EV, wait for the slith to get close and target yourself with the invis spell. The EV will do all the work. Then rinse and repeat till the EV dies. If you get lucky and manage to get 2 EVs going at a time, you can lure 2 sliths at a time. When I thought my EV was about to dissolve, I would quit luring the sliths into the EV and start trying to cast another EV.

If you just buy the 31 magery in Malas, you should be able to gain to 47 without any trouble.

Equip your crafter with as much LRC/LMC/MR gear as possible, since he probably won't have meditation and it's a hassle carrying a pack full of regs.

is this stickied somewhere? maybe in a New User area or something - it's an awesome post (informationally) that's just getting lost in a blur of old posts. When my chars were younger, as related to SA, I very much used this guide to amass my points - now that i'm 'there' doesn't mean the information should be lost, I was quite surprised when I saw it rise up.

Another suggestion for earning loyalty points on a crafter character is to put on some jewelry and other items to get some taming and vet skill and then use some unbonded lowland bouras to hunt regular and toxic sliths in the area where they spawn to the NE of Royal City.

Lowland bouras only take 29.1 taming to tame and not a lot of lore to effectively control them. They take up two control slots each but have lots of hit points. In most cases, they will probably kill the toxic sliths before the sliths can do much poison damage, so just a smidgeon of vet skill may be sufficient to keep them going for quite a while. If one of the bouras dies, just run down below the rocks and tame another one. If you can pull it off, it just might go a bit faster than using blade spirits or EVs and then having to wait for your mana to regen all the time if you don't have much meditation or focus skill. Carry some pieces of fruit with you to drop on a boura if it starts acting stubborn, or just release it and tame a new one.

(Edited to add: Ruddy bouras can be found with the lowland bouras and only require 17.1 taming. You could try them too, but would probably be better off with lowland bouras if you can somehow come up with enough taming/lore skill to have decent control over them.)

The Quests of Axem, the curator of the Ter Mur museum are easyto solve for a crafter.

- A broken vase

bring him 10 ancient pottery fragments

Reward: 5 Loyalty Points and a meager museum bag with about 3.000 gold and some gems

- Putting the pieces together

bring him 5 tattered remnants of an ancient scroll

Reward: 10 Loyalty Points and a dusty museum bag with about 6.000 gold and some gems

- Ye olde gargish

bring him 1 untranslated ancient tome

Reward: 50 Loyalty Points and a bulging museum bag with about 10.000 gold, some gems and one imbuing ingredient.

I found the needed parts in all kind of monsters on the surface of Ter Mur.
