Soulstoning/GGS question

I posted this over on the Tamer's forum yesterday, but maybe it's more appropriate to ask the question here:

I understand that to maximize GGS, you should keep your total skill points below 350. Some folks on this forum have also suggested only having taming on your char to maximize gains.

With that in mind, here's my question: can you shuffle skills on your character during a UO session and not upset the GGS applecart? Here's an example to clarify:

1) Aspiring tamer at or near the skill cap soulstones off most of his skills except for taming and possibly some support skills. Makes sure total skill points remaining on the character are below 350.
2) Said tamer goes out and does nothing but tame for an hour, trying to skill up.
3) Tamer goes back home, grabs the other skills back off the soulstones (so he's back near the skill cap), and hunts or trains a pet for a couple of hours.
4) After hunting, tamer returns home, uses the soulstones as in step 1 to strip off skills, and logs off.

Will the prime GGS level still apply to this character the next time they log in, or does it reset when those skills are sucked back off the soulstones?

I'm curious about this because I've removed everything but taming, lore, and magery from my bard tamer to maximize his GGS opportunities, but he dearly misses hunting with his pets. If he has to stay in the stripped down state to get the gains that's where I'll leave him, but if not....

Thanks for your help!

Absorbing a skill off a stone onto a character is treated as a skill gain, and therefore resets the GGS timer the same way a real gain or a GGS would.

Thanks for that info Basara. So I'm guessing when the skill points are absorbed from the soulstone, not only is the GGS reset, but it's reset to your new total skill cap. Is that right?

The workaround I use for this is to make sure that when I log off for the night my character has as few skills as possible, just the ones I want to train. He gets "reset" at server up and the game sees his lower skill cap. When I log in with him I do all the training I can stand first, then after I've had my fill of training, put skills back on for some hunting, but I always make sure I take them off before logging for the night. That way he gets reset at server up the next day.

Its a work before play method of training.
