I just banked at the Casino with a seldom used character and was surprised to see a chip balance. A quick check confirmed that it was the same balance as the character that normally gambles. Is this something new or had I missed it previously.?

It is certainly an easy way to transfer gold between characters on the same account, though I believe it is limited to 200 million. I don't have enough gold to confirm that but have noticed in the past that the Rider game will not let you bet an amount that would give your casino account more than 200 mil if you were to win the max.

There is the exponential bet strategy. You double your bet each time until you win. This strategy is usually blown up by a string of catastrophic losses until your bankroll is done, but in UO, you can always keep hunting to get double your last bet. I don't know what the max bet is, so you could hit that catastrophic failure.
