Something I just can't figure out...

Today I've noticed multiple people selling transfers and other tokens for really really cheap... Example being transfers for ten bucks or under... How is this possible? I was thinking maybe stolen CC's, but I dunno, I just don't think that's it.

So, what's up? Anyone know? I don't need any but even if I did I wouldn't buy em just because something seems fishy to me.

Tokens, like any other in-game item is susceptible to duping. It is sad because it takes away money EA is supposed to be making to support the game.

I suggested a long time ago that the game assign all store tokens a unique identification number on creation. This would make it very easy to determine if there is a dupe. Every time the token is placed on a vendor or in a trade window, it asks the promotion server if that token had been used. If it had, it would be deleted with a message informing the player it was a duped item. Of course when someone tries to use it for a transfer it also checks.

JC is right, Duped products.

Certain sites often have 5 Transfer tokens for 50 bucks. Quite a deal if your fine buying illegal goods.

You can't count on it always being Duped goods though, I know of people who purchased hundreds of 8th anniversary boxes simply to get the codes for soulstones and transfer tokens. It's possible but unlikely that this is the origin of some of the "Cheap" tokens floating around.

That was 5 years ago. They should have all been used up long ago.

i don't understand how duping is still able to be done ... each gold piece/item should have a hash mark or as JC said some identifier.

For all we know they could be selling tokens duped from 2008 and haven't been able to dupe any since.

I assume when they found out how to dupe they made a crap load and just stored them.

Be interesting if it sent a silent message to flag the account as well, assuming most sellers should be aware of what they are selling.

There was someone on Sonoma recently that was selling Transfers for 18M & after watching the person sell 2 they said they'd have more shortly bc they had tokens in route via another X-fer.... 18M is a good price imo... but having many of them is a bit unlikely I think.

Idk .... the tolkens were duped, this was a known thing back a few years ago.. it could be a handfull they missed or were stored in some out of the way unlinked account thats house fell.
I do know I bought over 27 boxes of the 7th and 8th age when they came out (have a few odd tolkens left too, so it is far fetched but possible that someone has saved up a good handfull and now is wanting to make a quick buck on something they will never use.
So dont jump so fast on its a duped item or they are dupers..... alot of houses have been falling so you never know

Oh yeah, they could be from IDOCs. I found a bag of 50 one time at an IDOC.

I thought about it possibly being older tokens, possibly from a past exploit but the fact that multiple people are selling them at this very moment makes me think not. I believe it would be really odd that more than one person or more than two even, start offering this deal at the same time. Just seems really suspect...

Its not always duping. I personally have found 3 transfer tokens in IDOCS.

Yeah, but that's just three. We're talking about far more than three and for more than one person offering such a deal.

Idk, I'm done trying to figure it out. It's probably nothing legal, I was just curious if anyone knew a legit and probable way this could be done.

There are still plenty of 8th aniv box sets still waiting to be purchased. I still see some on Game Stop and other game store shelves to this day.
