Someone else is running my life..apparently!

Get ready to take all this in. So today I went with some buddies out to a Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees game. They are minor league, but still a good game. We went early as they had a charity auction and autograph event. All is well until "ring ring" comes from my pocket from my cell phone.

"Welcome to Bank of America Card Fraud Services, Please stay on the line for the next available agent..."

Not another Shameless Hookups, please tell me no! Finally I get to talk to Fernando who tells me that they have possible fraudulent charges they would like to review with me. As of today I had a charge post to my account for:

$39.62-PAY-MEDMEDIA.COM

"Why no Fernando, I did not make such a purchase."

"Sir, someone has your credit card number then. I'm going to cancel your account to prevent anymore false charges. You'll receive a new card with a new number in 5-7 business days."

Just like that I'm protected..bam. Go Fernando. Which is going to be a pain in the behind as I'll have to change all my recurring billing charges to the new number. So when I get home I did some research and again found that I'm not alone..

Been charged to my credit card account 39.62, two times since last billing statement. These charges were never made or given authority to use my credit card account number..

I have a charge on my bank account from PAY-MEDMEDIA.COM 8883654621. Who are they?

So like yeah whatever, I got a new number it's cool. No harm done really.
Someone is trying to take over my life, whatever!


But now it gets so much better. I stop to get the mail on the way back to my house. I notice a letter addressed to me. The return address is:

City of Lancaster Municipal Building

Lancaster? I was there with my friend to get his new car, but I didn't drive or anything. What the heck do they want with me?

A Parking Violation was placed on your vehicle; The details of the ticket are listed below indicating a violation of the parking or traffic regulation violation and directing you to submit the minimum fee within 15 days.

Violation Date: 6/24/09
Parked At: 108 N Market Lancaster,PA

As of 7/12/09 You have failed to comply with the above instructions; Therefore you are hereby notified that since you did not submit the minimum fee you will now be required to pay a $20.00 fee, in person or by mail, no later than 8/2/09 or further actions will be taken before a local magistrate.

Ok first off, 6/24/09 was a Wednesday. I work on Wednesday's. How did my car end up in Lancaster? That's a good 85 miles away from where I work. WTF! I would assume they just have the wrong license plate #. I guess I just have to call them and dispute it. I would LOL if I have to go to court to dispute $20.

So now someone is driving my car and getting me tickets and also charging $39.62 to my credit card. Great!

Well that stinks! You have the worse luck with credit cards. Thank goodness your luck is better at the casinos. LOL! I would definitely dispute the parking ticket violation. Hopefully you don't have any more CC problems either.

But I don't want to hang out in Lancaster on a Wednesday parking my car in illegal spaces. Sure it's Amish central, but it's also filled with a lot of crime.

And I don't want to pay $39.62 to a website that doesn't even exist.

Edit to Add: The Lancaster government has a ticket lookup on it's website.

I called down to the lovely City of Lancaster. The woman was very courteous and agreed that since I do not own a:

That she will void the ticket. Well hey Thanks Lori! If you would have looked up the make and model in your computer you would have saved yourself the postage to send me a letter thinking someone has stolen my license #!
