Some questions rejoining UO

Hello!
I have bben playing UO from 1997 till about 2005. My main char Feronia was a peace-tamer. I was very happy with my template.
I have read a lot of posts about taming issues. I have learned so far, that taming has changed a lot. I have also read a lot abaout templates and stats, but actually it is too complicated for me. I think, a have to learn the basics first.
I have some dragons, a white wyrm, a hiryu and a nightmare. They are well trained, but not maxed out relating the old system. I have learned so far, that training pets has changed totally. I have to start the training and than go to 100%. When i reach this, i get points, which i can use on my pet to get higher levels in their stats and/or buy some new skills. I have to train the pets again, to reach the new max levels in their skills. Am i right so far?

I have started to train a dragon an d a white wyrm. After starting, they both need 4 slots instead of 3 before the training. I have read, that it is better, to train pets starting with 2 or 3 slots, because you can get more benefits from the level-jumps. Is it better now, to tame new pets instad of training old ones?

Is peace-tamer still a good template or is it absolute useless? I always was very happy with it, don't want to change, if its still playable. I am not a player with very high ambitions, first i like to have fun.

Would be nice, to get some answers and maybe some hints from You.

Have fun!

Welcome back, I also returned about 2 years back or less. And yes after all this time there is still constant nerfing of old templates after 20 years of service, and nerfing of new features that brought excitement and later nerf down to become useless. It's still the same.

It's better to wait out and see what else will become useless next. Anything can change, normally in this same direction.

I run peace tamer, i'm on a quest to craft some great 4 slot pets but haven't really started yet (ride a shadow barded swamp drake + pet). Btw I think a peace tamer is ridiculously strong template with crammed skills + kit swapping to buff taming, i've jumped from my own kind of sampire template to super faster cast/FCR chiv archer+peace then lastly peace tamer and I take templates super seriously and I think peace tamer is great.
