I am going to start a SpellWeaver on my other account.

I am kind of thinking Necro/Mage/SpellWeaver

I believe from reading that SpiritSpeak+EvalInt are the supporting skills for Necro+Mage.

I am considering Focus+Meditation, now that ends up being the ... 7

I might be able to add +20 skills in Jewelry. So that would put me up to around 725 Skill Points available.

Now if I took The Necro, Mage, SpellWeaving, SpiritSpeak, EvalInt to 110, that consumes 550 of the 725.

Take Meditation to 100 takes me to 650, giving me 75 (actually 60) for Focus.

I am all ears and will greatly appreciate all opinions, thoughts, advice etc.

If this is a DUMB combination the please say so.

No matter what you do, unless you are the among the anti-PvP crowd..... take your eval to 120.

Also is the focus really necessary? Id use the points to max out 1. Eval, 2. Magery, 3. SS after that if you really want to use Word of Death you need 120 weaving also. And if you still have points left in focus after capping out all other skills dump them all in Med which will grant you higher return in MR mods and I suggest you be a human for the 20 free focus so you wont need red pots to run indefinitely.

Assuming its for PvM and you can get an arcane focus whenever you want I'd go with:

110 Mage (gives you 100% success with circle 7 and lower)
92.5 Med (all 0.1's in med/focus count)
100 Eval
100 Resist (so you don't die to stupid things like blood oath/mana vamp/parra)
100 Necro (100% success with everything except strangle/revnants/vamp form)
100 SS
117.5 Spellweaving (100% success with WOD, as this spell is intended as a finisher you don't want to fizzle and have the monster die before you re cast, the 2.5 is a minor boost to med)

I'd also advise 4/6 casting and as much SDI as you can pack on. I'd also reccomend being human, in fact I'd recomend being human on all templates other than a resource gathering mule or cu taming tamer & even then you can go human afterwards.

If you can't get a focus most of the time you may find spellweavings a waste of time.

I've tried it before but can't often get a focus so its not for me. I currently use a Scribe/Necro/Mage:

115 Mage
85 Med
120 Eval
100 Resist
100 Necro
100 SS
100 Inscription

With 67/91/76/77/74, 109 lrc, 38 lmc, 6 mr, 42 sdi, 45 dci, 2/6, 520 luck
Changing between mage weapon and slayer spellbooks+protection depending on the situation. Suit is wraith form+corpse proof. The med looks low but it's never a problem due to the high damage leeches.

Both work, just comes down to how you play them.

Sorry should have clarified these points.

Play style is PvM.

This is in part an experiment with a template other than my Peace Tamer and Stealth Tamer.

I already have a SpellWeaver on the other account but zero experience so far, this Character was originally going to be a Scribe/Alchemist but the realities of UO today seem to suggest I can at the least drop the Alchemist part. I will be raising this new one so I can at least get some form of a Focus Crystal.

I tend to have one account all Human the other account all Elf. I understand the advice given as to the selection of Race :)

Last but not least, everything posted here will be gone through on TC1 to see how it "feels" to me to play.

The overall goal is to establish a second SpellWeaver. My hope is to create at least 1 and maybe 2 alternate templates to my Tamers that I can have fun with.

Getting an Arcane Focus of signifigant level requires you to have 4-5 other Spellweavers within 20 points of you standing on an Arcane Circle when you cast it. Or you can put your Spellweaving on a Soulstone and get 4-5 other players without Spellweaving to stand on an Arcane Circle when you cast it.

The reason for this is because the strength of the Focus Crystal affects what point Word Of Death starts doing the large damage or instant death. With no focus I believe it doesn't start doing the large damage or instant death effect until the target is under 5% health. This is difficult to time, especially if you fizzle, especially if there are other people on it, such as with public spawns. With a 5 or 6 strength focus you can start using Word Of Death when the target is under 30%, which usually gives you time to get several in before it dies.

Arcane Empowerment can boost the damage of Word Of Death, it also boosts the effects of your Magery or Chivalry heals.

Spell Damage Increase (which has no cap in PvM) can also increase Word Of Death damage by a lot. Its been a long time since I had one but I seem to remember being able to do 600 or 700 and something damage with it.

Sorry if you already know and understand all this, I just wanted to clarify what I meant about getting a focus and why it matters.

The big problem with Spellweaving is finding enough skilled players to make a decent Focus. Especially if you play on off hours...it can be impossible. If you can find an active guild with many weavers, then it's a great skill choice.

As mentioned in my reply in the other thread, I suggest dropping the focus (I mean the skill, not arcane focus gem) entirely. See the reasons I provided in that thread.

Pump magery, spellweaving, eval, spiritspeak higher (in order of importance) depending on what you can afford. Having never ever fail EVs or WOD is much better than slightly increased damage.

My stealth mage has lower necro, no ss, but instead has 70 ninjitsu, 80 stealth and gm hiding.

magery/med/eval/necro/spirit speak/weaving.

All as high as they can get. If you have extra skill points, they can go into focus since nothing else will help you with so few skill points (except perhaps chivalry, but your karma is too low to make it effective).
