So I haven't logged in for quite a while and I haven't purchased any of the new boosters.

Its kinda dawning on me, apart from the people in game, where's the fun? Sure there's lots of tedious challenges, but fun? Where did that go?

Make my own fun...sure, but then I can make fun in any game if its that simple to make fun and why would I need UO then?

So where did the fun go?

Everything in life gets dull after a while. You need to look for new things to do and challange yourself.

I'm looking at a effective way to solo the spider spawn myself. I can raise the champ but the web's do me in but such is life.

Join a guild on a new server and start all over again?

I guess you have to figure that out for yourself. Each of us have our own taste of what we think is fun. As for me I have many chars on many shards. One shard gets old and dull I went to another. Well thats when my accounts are active. Atm Im have them closed.

Theres so much to do in UO. Yes i get bored of it and stop playing for a few months of every year, but really everyone needs to do that.

Fun things ive done recently:

Pwned the Abyss with my sampire, soloing everthing.

Continue to work on weapons, and armor for my sampire, kinda a hobby.

Started to organize my library (but sadly its still just a big pile of books, ill get it done someday)

Updated characters suits to what they needed to be in the modern post imbuing UO

Made a unique max mage stat luck suit.

Broke down and replaced my smallish trin gate fel house (i used to love it when i played reds alot) with an 18 by 18 in a location i really like.

Currently having "fun" by decorating my freshly built home. ... Although i hate decorating. The end result will be awesome tho, so its fun to have something to work on and look forward too.

When i finish that, i dont know what ill do, but im sure ill find something.

There is so many goals to set in the game one should never get bored. I don't think two more systems and sets of arms would help me reach all mine. The one thing that never has an endgame is a vendor house. Not talking one with vendors with all the uber items. I think it is harder on new players with no vendor houses catering to starting players.

Right now I burn all my time collecting as much of the holloween cloth from being tricked. Future use of making garg cloth armor sets for my gargs and sell on vendors. Hard part will be all the mining of ingots for filling BODs trying to get all the POF needed. POF is the biggest thing that has slowed everyones ability to stock armor on vendors. Just really need an option on the tool for armor that exchanges arms lore resist pump for durability on crafted armor.

offtopic, but if your making new player armor and dont want to fort it, you can just imbue it with durability. Doesnt have to be max, 120 or so repairs will last a while even for a melee character. Yeah your wasting weight, but it cuts cost down alot, which may be more appealing to a new player than the extra stats.

Quoted from a Lead Programmer... "Don't like it, don't play it."

Sadly, a lot of people took his advice...

I have loads of fun PK'ing the scripters in Felucca, and reporting those in Trammel. Sometimes I try to save them from those mean, nasty golems attacking them. Try it, you might like it!

LOL.....my problem is there is so much to do! I feel like I have UO-ADHD because I always jump from activity to activity and end up with a bunch of unfinished projects. But it is all fun!

Guess since you've limited yourself by not getting the boosters or expansions.... you know that's or own problem.

As for me I'm still having a blast and soo busy with stuff to do I hardly have time to be bored.

To each their own I guess.

why did ya need it back then?
Because it had fun in it and I guess I had more spare time for stupid monotone things. Not to mention those monotone things were new and so easier to swallow.

it's prolly right where you left it, just before you got cranky :p

UO is kinda like that car you bought 20 years ago which was cool back then, but it just doesn't shape up to anything anymore and its lacks and flaws are becoming more apparent.

Perhaps its because there are so many fun games out there, that are better and better made that UO seems a bit bland in comparison.

And it doesn't seem like they want to do much more than pile up even more complex and repetitive actions in the game...which is just not so appealing.
