The only reason I'd be in a focus group is so I could get to be one of the people screaming "WE TOLD YOU ABOUT THESE ISSUES IN BETA WTF" when the inevitable easily-forseen problems crop up.

It's even better when your selected for beta and aren't given the right access. Then when you email and ask about it, you get no response! I bet those are fun for some people :/
