ok so this season there is a new fantasy adventure anime called sword art online.
here is the premise,,
a reclusive but very talented video game designer (like lets say like out beloved game creator) deveolps a new virtual reality system with full neural link and everything.and creats a mmo game card sword art online, whic is very simular to how our ultima online is today but in a vr setting.after a 4 month beta test the game opens to limited release of 10,000 subscriptions and on the first day as everyone who was lucky(or unlucky as it would turn out) logged in to start playing..well every thing goes great for the main charicters untill they decide to log out and find out there is no log out button to get out of the game..after a few minutes of confusion all the players are teleported to the main garden in the starting city where there greeted by a giant red robed game master.. he reveals to everyone that hes the game developer and that the missing log out button is intentional...
it seems the game master is the developer and hes gone completely insane. no one can log out,the vr system will fry the players brain is someone tries to log them out and the gm revieles that 213 ppl already died from atempting just that, and now there rpg has gotten a whole lot more serious.
the only way a player will be able to safely log out of the game is by going through and defeating each boss on each level of the dungeon...all 100 levels(its revieled earlier that in 4 month the beta testers could get as high as level 8) but theres a catch...go down to zero hit points and not only does your avatar die but so do you,,so mess up and ur dead...and then as a parting gift before the all powerfull game master vanishes he gives each player a small gift.. a mirror, as the players look at the mirror the biggest insult of all happens...instead of everyone looking like the heros they imagine themselves to be, they now look like themselves fugly and all(theres even a scene where one guys yellin at another guy because he was decieved into thinking that player was a girl..while the now embarred guys wearing a nice flashy dress)..at the end of the first episode they show the main hall of the castle where all the players names are listed...while slowly one by one the names are being crossed off.. and then a note...... after one month 2000 players lost there lives...and they have yet to clear level 1.
so there you have it..a what if the creators of uo went nuts anime.....kinda scary to think about it as a gamer.
