lol mine usually don't go into spam, but I always get the e-mail the day the account goes down, it would be nice to have like a weeks advance notice but at least I get an e-mail. Mesanna did say they were re-vamping the whole account management system so HOPEFULLY things like this will be fixed...though I don't know...when they put up the link to sign up for the newsletter, I entered my e-mail...and haven't gotten anything yet....:/

I always get my emails when my accounts expire. If I'm not mistaken, there were some opt-in/opt-out questions with regards to email and sharing info with business partners and the like. Did you opt-out of getting emails sent to you by EA?

Didnt opt out, and yes checked spam. Ain't no big deal, just a nuisance. I'm looking forward to a new acct management system, for sure. But then, I was also looking forward to Hi-res art...

Duuuude I owe ya big time. I had an account that was suppose to intentionally expire I was using for some house placement. You got me thinking about my accounts in general and I wanted to confirm I wasn't paying for an unwanted account. While confirming the unwanted account had indeed expired I noted 2 of my 3 active accounts were set to expire also and I had gotten emails about it. I rarely check my email anymore and when I do things get lost in the 100's of junk email I get. Somehow the billing info for my expired credit card took the lead over my current credit card. I hadn't used the expired one in a long time. Not sure why it did that but it freaked me out. I'll be keeping a close eye on this for the next few months. I get a new credit card in the fall so I'll try and figure out the whole account management thing then and try and get the info cleaned up. But my main accounts were set to deactivate in less than a week, oi.

I was missing the expire e-mails and just checked the mail logs. The reason why some players might not get the e-mails is simply an improperly configured mail server.

Could whoever is responsible at mythic please give their mail servers a proper server name? Thank you.

What is wrong with the server name? Instead of *Don't* reply it's DO NOT reply....all one word obviously...and I still get my e-mails without an issue.

RFC 2821 : The server name should be that of the sending system, and should be a fully qualified name known in DNS. If such a name is unavailable, a domain literal should be used.

Mythic gave their mailserver the servername "ip-10-19-0-39" which is NOT a fully qualified domain name. It should be something like "mailout.eamythic.net". It does not have to match the dns record of the servers ip address. Alot of hosters will block improperly configured mail servers as they usually just send spam. Yours does obviously not block on EHLO/HELO.

"donotreply@.." is an email address and has nothing to do with the server name.

currently, i hold 2 active accounts. my sons each have an account that I recently mothballed - if they are not gonna play them I'm not gonna pay for them. Besides, they are adults with kids of their own now, I shouldn't be carrying their accounts anymore! at my peak I paid for 12 accounts total (from Y2k to 2006)

I have 12 accounts now.... They are timed out so that one bills me every 2 weeks for 6 Months. That comes to about $120 a month. Somewhere in there... that's just for that if I don't buy any tokens or anything off the store.

I can't believe people rely on these emails to remind them still. I don't trust them at all! I simply add them to my google calendar (other services are available) then add alerts. 1st alert is an email 1 week before it expires and the next comes a day before. I also get a push notification to my phone.

Ya, it would be nice to get reminders that payment is about to be made or if you have no credit card on file, that your account is about to expire.. currently I do pay with a prepaid card so i have to add money each time i want to pay... I get the following emails:

Your e-mail provider has their server not set to check for a fully qualified domain name. That tends to make it less secure and more susceptible to accept spam e-mail.

I use Gmail...that's not secure? I have it set for 2-step verification and all the security goodies that it provides! And I rarely if ever get spam in my gmail...I can't remember the last time I got a spam email.

Allowing servers without a FQDN to deliver mail to your mail server usually makes it less secure and more prone to receive spam from unnamed servers.
GMail likely does that to allow misconfigured e-mail servers to deliver e-mail to their servers, and then pass them through an anti-spam service before allowing it to reach the user mailbox.
If it were to block mailservers without a FQDN, it will then have to deal with angry users claiming that Gmail isn't delivering their e-mail properly, while the source of the problem would be on the sender server.
But try to explain that to an user...
