1 person because the font size is too small
1 person because the house placement rules lied to them
And soon me because nobody will play this game with me

This is after months and years of hyping these people to try it / come back

:(

no one will play with you? Don't you just watch for someone to call out a boss in chat then go join in? I do.

I can play with random people yes, but that isn't the same as real life friends and family.
Yeah I do that, but I've noticed people are calling bosses out less and just killing them on their own. Which is just going to get worse as the player items become stronger.
Also, I am not happy with the boss drop system.
I've spent 3 weeks, over 100 hours in-game, and killed over 50 bosses and haven't gotten anything worthwhile.
Most of that time is just standing around waiting for the next boss to show up. Which, if my friends played, would make it funner cause we could chit-chat or hang out, or stream tv shows until the timer goes off. Instead we just sit next to each other and play different games. And, sadly, I am leaning more towards joining their games because of how much UO is letting us down.

My point was; It's just ridiculous that the devs don't focus on things that would keep people in the game and it sad seeing my friends upset.

3 weeks and over 100 hours means roughly playing 30+ hours per week or more, i.e. a full time workload in RL. And that is playing NL not just the "production" shards? If we read you correctly. No problem with that, just glad some of us have that kind of time in their hands, and that is awesome. We play the UO promo and NL for fun, here and there when time allows.
Perhaps you are looking into the game / gaming from a different perspective. NL just started, and there will be bugs/problems and adjustments to be made.
I think that you may find lots of people playing for the simple fun of it, and they may be enjoying NL and regular UO playing.
Also different folks like different things in the game. So the Devs cannot please everybody, no chance with that.
I hope you find some enjoyment in the game, sounds to me that you overplayed the NL UO, and have in a sense beat the game.
After all its just a video game. Take it easy on yourself.

Ding ding ding ding ding! You've got it! That is exactly my point! If someone who is able to invest this amount of time can't get the drops. How on earth is someone who can only play 1-2 hours a day or only on the weekends ever supposed to get the drops?! It's a badly designed system. I would rather it be restricted so you can only earn 1 boss point a day or 5 boss points a week rather than this insane system where you have to be glued to your computer screen all day.

I do not play the production shards. Have not touched them in over a decade. The game died for me many years ago. Around the time EM events started happening.

I wish I could enjoy UO. But I am stuck on this grind for a book I can't get. Every time I try to go do something else like BOD's, shopping, or decorate my house, someone shouts out that a boss is up and I have to begrudgingly switch characters for a 0.1% chance at a miracle. It's annoying.

The devs didn't even try to please everybody. If they did, they did a really poor job at it. Warriors can't get their end game armor. Thieves don't even exist. Fishing has been removed. You can't be a chef. They told a lot of people to bugger off.

Sadly I have not beat it. I have not gotten a single taming book yet. That is the problem.
I want to play, get my book, get my dragon, and quit for 7 days, then come have some fun, and then quit again, and enjoy other things in my life, and other games. Not be glued to this game.

I don't have any taming books either, other than the drake one that I got from the quest. I tamed a pair of fire drakes, now bonded and a pair of cold drakes, due to bond today, and am happily training their skills up. It's not a race, enjoy what you can do now.

I've seen several Taming Books on vendor search for between 1m (dragon book) and 3m (white wyrm book) and that's only 3 weeks into a year long server. If you are getting frustrated with boss spawns, there is that option to farm gold to buy the books (or any other items). Drop rate for items is not .1%, if it was far less people would have lure/knowledge pets.

You can also, make new friends. We've made so many new friends (or found old ones who play different servers than we do). A guildie who hasn't had a lot of time to play recently was given a manticore pet from some of those friends she met in Beta.

Are you a member of the New Legacy discord? Lots of people to meet and group up with there!

I have all of that done already that's why I am ready for the next step, but I am blocked because of a book drop. So all I can do is stand and wait for bosses to spawn. It's like standing in line for a ride at Disneyland. A hour and a half wait for 90 seconds of thrill and then just disappointment.

I've seen several Taming Books on vendor search for between 1m (dragon book) and 3m (white wyrm book)
How am I supposed to get 4 million gold? The most I can get farming regular monsters is 50k an hour. That's 80 hours of grinding. And what about the firesteed, nightmare, and undead taming books? Seems silly to waste that much time grinding for something that drops for free. Would be better off just buying gold at that point instead of wasting that amount of time. But buying gold feels like cheating. I want to earn the items myself. And it would make more sense to grind bosses for boss drops to sell or trade rather than regular monsters. But again, the bosses don't drop anything. And all that time farming bosses or standing around waiting for Icemancer or CD to spawn could be used to farm gold.

52 weeks is going to go fast. Gonna stink to get that dragon book on week 48.

No I am not on discord. I mainly play by myself. Only joining groups when forced to: IE this boss system. Time is a hard thing to juggle. Guilds wanting to do raids when its dinner time. Etc. Just a pain. I never log off if others rely on me. Unhealthy.

I can definitely see where you are coming from. I did play for a week or so when I was getting bored waiting for Pub 118.1 to begin and while the quick skill gain is great; I did find myself pretty bored rather quickly when the only thing left to do was hop around to the bosses to try to get some goodies. The bosses/drops/spawns/etc are all throttled back so that people don't "beat the game" in the first week (ie the last time I played Might was the highest drop) but at the same time that makes for a boring time because I felt like I was waiting around quite a bit for a spawn/boss half the time. Even when doing the boss I felt like half the time I either wouldn't get anything or it was pretty useless (like a named armor piece that ultimately was the same as any other "guarding" armor piece). To me the only reasons to keep doing the bosses would be to get a taming book or a lure; if you don't care too much about taming then I didn't see much point.

Now that there is Prod events though, I haven't logged back in to NL to even bother doing anything else because I don't want to miss getting new limited items / pets. I think this was always going to be a problem with people playing NL because for me personally, I don't want to lose out on some killer items on PROD just to grind some basic level stuff on NL that may or may not transfer over anyway.
