Huh? EoO is a Chiv Spell. Any character with enough Chivalry to cast it can you use it. What makes you think otherwise?

I think he means for magery spells.

Personally, it rocks for my chiv mage, but then I cast summons, and equip a mage weapon bow (backed up by EoO and GM tactics, and magery loss offset by jewelry). I do more damage per second than I would with my SDI suit on, and in fact my bow damage usually outperforms the two summons combined.

If something gets up in my face (like the undead the DF creates), then I spam holy light - as unlike magery, it doesn't interrupt my weapons fire/swing sequence.

no to pets OR summons. It's weapons only.

I use it for my mage weapons: bows, or the Swords of prosperity, Staff of the Magi or Staff of Pyros if I go to melee. And, with a mostly 70s (one resist at 65, another 69) suit with 40% LMC and 100% LRC, I'm not afraid to go into melee with the mage, especially if the creature I'm fighting is targeting my eles or EVs. If one of the summons drops, I take one step back and recast it, then wade back into the fight.

I can drop Ice Fiends with the character rather quickly using ONLY melee attacks with the SoP (sword or staff, same abbreviation), as either weapon means I have the offensive and defensive benefits of 120 weapon skill (and I heal with close wounds when in melee as necessary as it doesn't stop my attacks like magery spells). It's one of the better ways to gain honor for a mage.

Heck, I sometimes even go to the north side of Luna on Lake Austin, where a remaining spawn of ancient liches from an event sits outside the gates, and gain honor taking THEM down with the staff of Pyros and Enemy of One.

pally mages are fun, they are better utilized as a paladin with supplemental magic, rather than a mage with chivalry. meaning your character will be more effective in battle using a weapon and using summons, rather than casting magery spells for damage. these characters are heavily item dependant, and really don't need too many skills invested.

the main skills on my pally mage are:
magery
meditation
resist
chivalry
tactics

the rest of the skill i end up changing, trying new things. i'm impressed with spellweaving, and may utilize that for some more possibilities, like attunement (blood oath protection), and allure (for the power artic orge lords).

the main focus of my template is this crafted ash ranger shortbow:
spell channeling
mage weapon -21
hit chance 12%
swing speed increase 45%
damage increase 40%
lower requirements 20%

it works really well for my character, and i can supplement element damage with quivers rather than using conscecrate often. it works really well with dealing consistent damage, and utilizing EV's or earth elements, i get my share of loot.

i like my pally mage, i just don't like how item dependant this particular class is.

So what stats would you have for this kind of build?
