Small improvements you'd like to see in Classic Client

Emphasis on small! Faction system, pvp mechanics, new game engine, etc have no place in this thread.Only include tiny, manageable bits that you recon are easy to impplement but would, in your opinnion, vastly increase the overall experience none the less. . Please try to focus on client, UI related updates etc.Game mechanic tweaks (make taming easier to grind! nerf poisoning!) are for some other thread as well.


- New log in screen. Current one is old, unprofilic and I doubt it means nothing to anyone. It is some generic stock fantasy castle. Someting with little more Ultima in it would do well.

- Currently UO comes with absolutely abysmal **** music. This is strange considering the pretty vast back catalogue of excellent, classic and well loved music UO and Ultima series as a whole have seen over the years. It is possible to change game's music files manually. However, it is lot of work and at least I began experiencing client crashes when doing so; - -> It is safe to assume almost nobody actually bothers to do this. Instead, people either turn the music off or get driven out of the game by it. It would be awesome to have an option for classic music. How can it be modern day UO has no Stones on log in screen?Or anywhere, for that matter.(besides Jukebox)
This wouldn't even have to be some tedious-to-implement tricky client side thing. An offiially assembled and released Zip file containing pile of classic music and relevant config files so people could just " drop&go" would be enough.

I officially and in 72% seriousness claim UO woud have 100-150 more active subs if people could hear Stones when logging in. You do not quit a game with a song like that.;p

Are you a Forum hero on a quest for campaigning on behalf of immediate removal of CC/EC?Not right place for that either.

All of those ideas take away from things that should be done but aren't anyways. If bad stuff happens when "minor" changes are made could you even think about what could happen if they screwed with our ability to log in?

Dropping the old client would have to large a chunk of accounts leave I think, I'd close mine anyways. It could be the wise thing to drop the EC for all anyone knows as there is just a good a chance that those people would come back to the CC anyways. Heck that might just improve the bottom line with out the drag of the EC.

If they dropped the EC or the CC I would still play. I would just use whatever client is left. Easy.

It annoys me when people say this. Lets take a 16 year vet for example. They would cancel accounts just because their client of choice is dropped? Wow, that really would be throwing toys out of the pram.

having an option switch to turn off the long delay before you can type in your password (skip the opening screen animation) - even if you had to dig way down deep into uo.cfg and set some obsure switch in order to get this done, I don't care - just put it in and document it

having an option switch as per above to shut off the stupid warning message about dual clienting - so sick of seeing that message by now (Multiple Instances Running / Running two instances of Ultima Online at once ... blah blah blah)

Crafting menus:

1. Place the "you have worn out your tool" message in the tool menu along with all other stop messages.
2. Using the back button when looking at a specific item to craft doesn't take you back to the first page in the list of selections.
3. Increase craft speed of make number/max.
4. A toggled option to combine tools (while crafting tools) in order to make a single max 9999 charge tool.

Though I guess these would apply to both clients.

I'd like to see all of uoassist's abilities incorporated into Classic Client so it's not necessary to use random third party apps just to play the game.

I'd also like a little lock on the corner of the game window like in E.C to stop the window from roaming when I miss click. And a lock to stop my spell tiles from roaming too.

Most other improvements I'd like are listed in the bug forum. (Mainly health bar related)

I used to think I might adjust somehow if they only offered the EC, but in the end, the Classic Client, in my mind, is inseparable from the heart and soul of UO. I may just be an old dog uninterested in learning new tricks, but that's the reality of it for me regardless of the perceptions of anyone else.

Is questionable if this counts as a "small change";p ..But yeah but I much agree..It has always puzzled me to no end how and why OSI/EA/Mythic never made UOA equivalent of their own. One single guy completely disconnected from an original dev team can build and maintain it fordecades..Doubt it'd be too difficult for dev team to do the same.

I'd like to see the buff/debuff bar actually work well and for ALL buffs and debuffs. I think they have improved it, but last I played it still did not show hit lower def/hit lower attack.

I would LOVE to see some macro options like in the EC. UO macros are so outdated and cumbersome to use. Who knows how long UOassist is going to be around to fill in the gaps. I want to features of the EC with the graphics and art of the classic client. Might be kind of a lot to ask.

I always thought it was kinda silly to need a third party program to have a display of how many cure potions I have left... :/

Something that I would especially like to see copied over from the EC to the CC would be a "persistent" status bar for any pets that my character has taken out of the stable since log-in. As in the EC, the bar would go gray (and not just simply disappear) for a pet when it is mounted (or off-screen) but would change to blue or green when the pet is no longer mounted and is on the same screen with its owner.

I'd also like to be able to feed a pet while using the CC by dropping food on its status bar or be able to put stuff in a pack animal's backpack by dropping the item on its status bar. You used to be able to do both of these things in the old "3D" client that was discontinued in 2007 when the KR client was rolled out.

Edited to add: I'd also like to be able to use a pet's context menu by clicking (or shift-clicking, depending on how you have your client configured) on the pet's status bar, instead of having to click on the pet itself. I cannot remember with certainty if you used to be able to do this in the 3D client or if you can do it in the EC, but it seems like I've done it before in one or the other of them and know that you definitely cannot do it today in the CC.

It's obviously been a long time since you've played CC as pretty much ALL buffs/debuffs now show

Ok, I'll start with one of my pet peeve's. This won't concern anyone who doesn't have a Seed Box, but I know that a LOT of people do (personally I have over 20 on 2 shards).
The great thing about Seed Boxes is that they eliminate the silliness of having to use Poppy dust just to identify seeds. But it (unfortunately) makes up for that convenience with the very annoying way getting multiple seeds out of the Box is done. Please refer to my pic below where it's explained.

I'd totally get excited over an option to have a lighter pack color where I could actually see some of the items in it. Blackrock and the new minax arties come to mind as being almost impossible to see without 20/20 vision.

Larger gameplay window rather than the postage stamp sized 800x600.
I just want the ability to play in a bigger play window than 800x600 >:[ It needs 1920x1080 resolution!
There are technical reasons why the 2D CC can't be made bigger, as explained several times by developers in past posts. Search them if you want an explanation. But it isn't going to happen in CC - that's the main reason I play EC.

I'd like a macro for dismount built into UO, there are some technical issues where this would be advantageous over doing it in uoassist.
I don't know if this works in the CC, but there are some actions in the EC that if you try to do, they will dismount you. I have a fishing macro in the EC that if I accidentally hit it, I get dismounted. You could try that as a work-around, not sure if it works though.

I know the resolution can't be made bigger on the CC. But this thread is mostly about wishful thinking on everyone's part anyway, since the CC is not likely to get any new features, because the dev team is focused on updating the EC.

I bet if they updated the EC and fixed most of the bugs with it [item colors look wrong in containers, general slowness when moving items around] and gave players an option to use the CC animations more people would switch.

On your health bar.... It shows your stats, resists, HCI, DCI, etc. Why cant it show MR, SR, HPR, damage eaters, and other various mods, etc. Maybe a separate suit stats tab?

When you kill a monster, cant the gold at least be deposited right into your bank? The weight of gold makes it not worth carrying.

I would have to. The EC will technically run on linux, but it's so slow that it'd take me 20 minutes to cross the Luna bank, and this is with a OS and emulator build current as of yesterday, plus 64-bit hardware that's no more than a year old. CC is all there is for me.

Even if it can't be made larger, it could be made to at least support 16:9 monitors, rather than 4:3 only. At the moment, when I maximize the window (not using full screen mode), the right bit is all garbled where it exceeds the 4:3 point.

I have a 2nd pet peeve that goes along with my 1st (post 21 above). And yes, I know that I have a lot of beds and plants, but a lot of people do. And even if you only do a dozen plants at a time, it's still the mindless mouse clicking and the time involved that's very, very annoying. This is the kind of thing that keeps the 3rd party (illegal) apps alive... Kindly see my pic below:

the irony of the situation is that if you use UOAssist's version of running ("Replace pathfinding with 'follow cursor') which works by double right clicking to enable it, then it works properly and totally ignores in-game text you hover over while running

all of which means it's possible and probably not that hard to do if UOAssist could do it 15 years ago but I had gotten used to the client's way of running and couldn't adapt to the other way unforunately

just wondering why they couldn't just copy what Tug did to fix the problem and back propagate it into the client

It should be put into macro's not as it is now. I use Control shift and alt in all kinds of combinations for my macros and it just gets in my way.

Some of these new items are very large. For those with small houses or limited space can we have an option to have a small size light house, Shed and other large items like these. Don't get me wrong they are very nice looking but they are just so large they will not fit in my house

Since this one is not CC specific, in fact applies equally to both clients, would anyone mind if I moved the post to the 'tweaks and suggestions' thread?
