Not sure if it is considered the same as a portable forge, but I recently turned over a portable anvil I had gotten from an IDOC to Mesanna and she verified that they were illegal to own.

Technically I think they've never been made not-illegal to own. A portable anvil, though, you can still make things on the fly. I'd wonder if fire beetles obviated any benefits you'd have previously have gotten from a portable forge.

I wish it was in a box so i could chop it outside my house that is next to a mountain. Would be a nice addition for smelting.

If I fill a bag with 26 dye tubs, and put it on the ground, in some ways, the game will treat it as if the bag were a static. If you were to simply put the forge down, I wonder if it would get stuck? Have you tried that kind of thing on test?
