I realize that this was a big deal on the Asian shards, but I never followed it. Can someone explain how it works or post a link? When one spawn, we have to search the entire UO world for it and use it at the time we kill it? Or can we take the dye and store it. Thanks for advance for the information.

you don't kill them, they're kinda like walking dye tubs with rare colors. assuming it'll be the same principle as the japanese event, each slime spawned in a rare color. after a couple hours or a day the slime would go *poof* and respawn in a different location on the shard with a new color. they weren't killable. sometimes they banish you and you end up like 50 feet away from them and have to run back, and they zoom around but stay within a given location, so they're easy to chase. i think sometimes they kill you but i can't remember if the slime killed me or the spawn around the slime...

you take cloth, bags, backpacks, boots, etc. with you, and you chase the slime and when you get close you double click it and then you get a target cursor (just like a dye tub) and you click the item you want to dye :). it's good to recall to your house or bank a lot and drop off the stuff you've managed to dye, so when you DIE you don't lose it all (if you can't get to your body, etc.)

some of them spawn in safe locations like zento or heartwood. some spawn in fel and are usually surrounded by a crew waiting to gank all the hapless people trying to dye stuff. that was a pita, but you just had to login later and try again. some of them are in the middle of dangerous locations like ilsh and you have to dogde and weave and try to survive while you dye your cloth. the teamwork in japan was awesome - there were always people stationed nearby with bandies and food and constant resses. it was a great community event :)

oh - and usually people will post here on the boards with slime sightings - since the slimes stay put for a while, it's pretty easy to get to each one before they relocate. so keep your eyes here on the boards during the event. the slimes spawned in different locations on each shard, during the japanese event. usually two were "live" at any given time, in differnet locations. Piel was awesome during the japanese slime event - she always hunted down the slimes each day and posted their color and locations.

Difference is that, as per the publish notes, the slimes only dye enhanced stuff.. that is, they work like pigments of Tokuno, so you can't dye cloth or bags.

It says artifacts or magicly enhanced items... Does magicly enhanced mean with ingots, leather, or wood or does it mean something different?

it means anything made or crafted from special material (all those listed, plus the new event armor & weapon drops)

So are the spots they spawn completely random or do they spawn places that are traveled? In all facets?

On the Asian shards, the slimes were the 24 colors of AOS. There were 24 spots where the slimes could spawn and the event lasted 2 weeks. The spots were pretty much spread out from Zento, Malas, Tram, and Fel. Some were in safe spots such as Zento City and others were in hard places like Revenant Island (lovely place this time of year) or Khaldun fel next to the blood pit. Each day 2 new slimes would spawn at a new location with new colors. For each shard the color would only spawn once and the spot would only be used once, so if you were on Shard A and Inv. Blue spawned on the first day at Chaos Shrine and you missed it...to bad. It was actually a great event not because of the colors, but because some of the spots people normally didn't go to or even knew were in the game.

so why risk our necks ? if it was cloth I go for it.
Oh I totally Agree with you cause if it's dye just stuff who cares...... though what I might risk my neck for would be if I could take empty bottles and bottle some.....

But to just dye a few pieces of armor or weapons big whoop.... I don't care at least with the cloth you could dye it and use the stuff later to make whatever you may need desire or whatnot.... but with it dying only armor and weapons well that doesn't interest me..... My guild wears a specific uniform with specific colors..... so I can't dye my stuff at all... And we certainly can't chose to use a color from there as "ours" cause it isn't going to be around later so that's of no interest at all.....

However like I said if you could somehow bottle it ..... well that might be more exciting for me.....

As far as I'm concerned this event is not the least bit interesting. You can't even dye the ingots to use at a later date....

Though if it works like ToT dyes can I dye unused deeds made of particular woods????? That might excite me slightly.

Sadly I have to agree. There's a significant difference with being able to dye cloth, which can be dyed in bulk and used at a later date. With the new dyes in place, it's very limited. I think they should bring back Treasures of Tokuno and drop new dyes.

I did this to a friends house as a joke years ago because she keeps a dozen or so horses in r/l

I also wish you could dye cloth and mundane items, I was hoping to dye some blessed aos boots I have that are a nasty color, and stock, up on cloth for my tailor. Wonder if begging for cloth to be included would help?

I have zero interest in this event. First the colors don't appeal to me (not counting the 5 new because I don't know what they are yet) and the fact that we are limited on what can be dyed solidified my opinion.

Thats great. I am going to dye a ton of stuff. I hope I don't see any of you naysayers at any of the slimes.

Would be nice if some non-dyeable stuff was slime-dyeable, such as that god-awfully hued sorcerer's armour, but I gather it's just stuff that tokuno dyes work on, eh?

I think it's good that they're making an effort lately to bring us in line with some of the cool Asian shard happenings (this and bookcase/hitchpost).. seems they want to preserve some of the uniqueness for Asian events, which is fair enough, but allow some of the fun to cross over. Sweet.

There are a lot of limitations, but I expect we'll be able to dye carpentry made items out of special woods, so that would include wooden containers and all types of furniture (tall hanging lanterns would be the only dyeable light source, I think), also add ons like pentagrams and abbatoirs and arcane circles. So it has definite potential for us decorator types. Don't discount it yet! :D
