(Question) Slim the Fence?

So I've yet to turn any trade quests over to Slim, but am curious about how it works. I have seen Slim in East Brit (in the Inn) but everytime I have a trade to turn in, all of his menu is grey (unpickable). I read that he is actually located on some of the island towns, does that mean I have to take a ship to fence these trades or am I doing something wrong in Brit?

The one in Brit is from the Exodus event a few years back. For the trade orders, see Slim on Occlo, Nujelm, or Serpent's Hold.

Thanks for the heads up on that. So in other words, you have to sail to those towns since you can't gate to them? Just checking...la

That is correct, my route when I do that one is usually moongate to New Magincia then sail the short distance from Magincia dock to the north coast of Occlo.

I thought the Moongate ruined your chance of a rare drop like Slim's Mempo. Is that incorrect?

Not sure on that to be honest. I actually more often do the town runs and get SoTs. I admit I haven't had a house sign recently.
that mempo is as rare as hen's teeth anyway, not really useable in a suit.

on the one character that i did this on, i was just taking quests in New mag, sailing to Ocllo and turning it in. did that enough times to get the title and quit, as i would never be lucky enough to get a Mempo lol.

I have never been able to make them work, it acts more like the teleport spell and say's "you cannot do that while you are on a trade run"

I'm pretty sure you can ONLY use public moongates as a shortcut with the quests. No crystal portals, no house teleporters, no "private" moongates. And yes, using the moongates does ruin your chance at a sign or a book, or I guess even a crazy mempo. When I was reading up on the mempo, it seemed that most people were using Vic's method of accepting the quest in New Mag and sail down to Occlo to fence it there. Granted it's supposed to take tens of thousands of trips to get the mempo, but if you just want the try it out, or go for the smuggler title, I still think that is probably the easiest method
