Slayer books or Mage Weapon

Pardon me, I only started playing Ultima Online.

I'm currently going for this template :

Note: this is for PvM only, I don't care how I perform in PvP.

120 Necromancy
120 Spiritspeaking
120 Eval int
120 Meditation
120 Resists
120 Magery

And mage weapon for defense. But here's the question, will I lose much performance for using mage weapon instead of having 100 Anatomy for defensive wrestling & slayer spellbooks (Double damage I believe?) ? What would you recommend I do? Do I even need the defense for pure PvM? Or resisting spells?

If you solo a lot, I wouldn't fight any magic casting monster without resist. If you're always in a group, you can squeeze by without it.

If you were going to drop resist solely for using a spellbook, you might as well just get 120 wrestling. Otherwise, you can get 40 spellweaving and 80 anatomy instead to have 110 defensive skill and be able to cast arcane empowerment, yet still circle with human JAoT.

I'm doing just fine with a template like that. I do however swap between mage-weapon/spellbook as needed.

For pvm you can live without resist/Weapon-skill. Its all a matter of learning to not get hit.
