Weight in your pack. I used the Butcher's War Cleaver today and it was fine till I reach a weight limit and then it quit moving leather to my bag.

It's a legacy weight bug. Once your main pack reaches 390 stone or the leather will put your pack over 390 stone the leather remains on the corpse.

How many items are in your pack? (I don't remember the numbers, but I vaguely remember that someone once managed to pin down that there are two thresholds that stop it from working ... one for weight and one for number of items in pack)

Nope, Flutter, that's whats cool about butchers war cleavers... they don't have to be equipped like skinning knives. Just click it in your pack and you've got leather.

The Skinning knife has to be equipped to work, but not the BWC.
Research has indicated the following times it won't work.
1. if you have one skinning knife equipped, and have another (or a BWC) in your pack.
2. if you have over 63 items in your pack (including BOD books)
3. if the weight of the leather would put you over 390 (this may be if the weight if the leather as uncut hides would have put you over - never mind the leather never has that stage with the tools)
