Is there a difference in the way a char performs when it comes to real stats vs modified? I was purchasing a bunch of + skill items and jewels to hopefully max my points in all areas of this template, but someone told me that it wouldnt be wise because modified skills would reduce the performance of the skill as compared to real skills. Such as in tactics, archery and stealth. All help would be appreciated. Thanks

I've never noticed any difference in how they work. I know there are a couple of skills that do go by real skill in certain situations, but the ones you named aren't any of them.

One thing to keep in mind when using +Skill gear is that your married to that gear unless you change your entire template and armor setup, so think hard about whether you really want to do it or not.

The only one skill that is currently underpreforming with skill+ items is necromancy. Besides losing forms when you swap items the animates tend be in accordance with real skill only. Aside from that there isnt anything diminished about skill+ item skills at all.

I run a vamp tamer and to res some one i swap out the necro jewlery for chiv + items and I lose my form. Its a pain but I carry vamp scrols and arcane boots. That gets me though with less teeth grinding.

\I also have 9 real magery on this char an with the proper items I can gate invisi and enteer wind!

Aside from what 5% Luck mentioned, the only thing to really pay attention to is if you use +tactics skill items to boost damage. It is fine to do and all, except for the fact that if you don't have 90 tactics to begin with, you won't be able to execute primary and secondary attacks.

You can use +tactics skill items to STILL boost your damage though. Connor brings up a nice point about skill items though.

I have different mage templates and what not that use +skill items, but if I took those items off it would be pretty much for the reason of making an entirely different template.

You have to look at swapping gear out only if you stay as Connor put it...married to the jewelry. Which to me just adds inflexibility.
