skills list has disappeared

Running on my vista machine 2d client when I open the skills gump its blank...completely blank. No list, no numbers nothing. Is this a bug? I really hate to re-install if I don't have to...

Happened to me. I paged and they told me to reinstall.

i forget how i did it but i was able to hit new on the skills gump and list my existing skills. it only happened on one character on that computer.

Create a new list or whatever it's called at the bottom of the scroll and they'll all pop under that one.

Issue: Missing Skills


If you are missing skills from your character's Skill list, you can replace that character's skill list with the default ...

1. Make sure the UO Client is closed.
2. Click the Start button on the Windows Taskbar.
3. Click My Computer.
4. Double-click the local disk (by default, it is C:).
5. Double-click the Program Files folder.
6. Double-click the EA Games folder.
7. Double-click the Ultima Online Samurai Empire folder.
8. Right-click the 'skillgrp.mul' file (may also be listed as 'skillgrp') and select Copy.
9. Click the Start button on the Windows Taskbar.
10. Click My Computer.
11. Double-click the local disk (by default, it is C:).
12. Double-click the Program Files folder.
13. Double-click the EA Games folder.
14. Double-click the Ultima Online Samurai Empire folder.
15. Double-click the Desktop folder.
16. Double-click the folder with your account name.
17. Double-click the folder with your character's shard.
18. Double-click the folder with your account name.
19. Click Edit on the menu bar at the top of the window, and select Paste.

Confirm the replacement of the existing file with the default you copied from the main folder. Next time you log in with (this character), the character will have a default skill list including all skills.
If this does not resolve the issue, it means your default 'skillgrp.mul' file is corrupted. You can try copying the file from the folder of another character that has all of their skills. If that doesn’t work either, a complete reinstallation of Ultima Online will be necessary.

NOTE: Some skills will not appear in your skill list if you do not have the Expansion required to use those skills. Chivalry and Necromancy are only available if your account has been upgraded to Age of Shadows. Bushido and Ninjitsu will only appear if your account has been upgraded to Samurai Empire.

NOTE: Lately my UO files save in My Documents under EAGames, so you may have to find the most recent files there.
