Does anyone know how much taming/lore you need to control say a trained 2 slot pet, 3 slot, 4 slot, etc?

I can tell you it maxes at 108 at 5 slot. For lower slots 1-3 it depends on the animal. Two pets that are both 1 slot can have different taming requirement.

It depends on the pet (as they can have different starting requirements), and the training it has received. Further than that, its not just the training it received, but how it was trained.

For a super-basic answer to "how much skill do I need to control this specific pet", you can use our control chance calculator here: Pet Control Chance Calculator | uo-cah.com

To get deeper into the mechanics, specifically what I mean by "it depends how it was trained", we have to look deeper into the mechanics:
  • Every time you spend points in advanced animal training, the taming requirement goes up by 2.4. Examples:
    • If you give your pet 100 Strength at once, its requirements will increase by 2.4
    • If you give your pet 100 Strength, but you do in intervals of 25 (Add 25 Str, hit Apply, Add 25 Str, hit apply, etc.), it will increase by 9.6 (2.4 x 4)
  • Every time the pet's control slots increase (through advanced training), its control requirements will increase by 21.2
    • You have a 2-slot pet. You start advanced animal training, level it to 100%, then apply some training to it. It will increase by 21.2 for increasing slots and 2.4 for applying a round of training
So with these mechanics in mind, you can carefully craft a pet if you can only afford a certain amount of skill on your suit.

Real World Example:
Lets take a relatively low control requirement pet, the High Plains Boura (requires 48 Taming).

We will do the following to it:
  1. Level it to 100% (requires 48 taming)
  2. Give it Physical Resist (requirement increases by 21.2 for increasing in slot, and 2.4 for applying training, and now requires 71.6 taming)
  3. Give it Fire Resist (71.6 + 2.4 = 74 required)
  4. Give it Poison Resist (74 + 2.4 = 76.4 required)
  5. Give it Cold Resist (76.4 + 2.4 = 78.8 required)
  6. Give it Energy Resist (78.8 + 2.4 = 81.2 reqiured)
  7. Give it Stamina (81.2 + 2.4 = 83.6)
  8. Give it Dexterity (83.6 + 2.4 = 86 required)
  9. Give it Strength (86 + 2.4 = 88.4 required)
  10. Give it an Ability (88.4 + 2.4 = 90.8 required)
So after training the pet in this manner, its new control requirement will be 90.8 minimum.

If you have 91 Taming/Lore, you will have a 70% chance to successfully control the pet. If you have 100 Taming/90 Lore, this increases to 90% control chance (use calculator above to determine your control chance).

So if you start with a low control requirement pet, carefully plan out each training cycle to have as few as possible, you can precisely control the control requirements of the pet, then base your skill around that requirement.

What he said! I was just getting ready to post EXACTLY the same information, but from memory. :) J/K  FYI, his information is generally "spot on".

Funny aside: My three-slot swamp dragon is still controllable by a Jack Of All Trades human.
