the phoenix armour set.

we came back out with item bless deeds didnt we?
those where from the same original clean up brit event!

i think we should bring these into the new clean up event.
they are nothing but eye candy anyways.
absolutely no resists and no mods.
just blessed and a odd colour.

but its valuable to me cause i have every other armour set ever made in game but that one, hehe

well i think it was also redone but on japanese shards and i seem to remember it was identical except for the helmet title or summat.
and i bet i know a set you dont have as until recently it was only me with the pieces although now escaflowne has one piece

I don't have Phoenix armor in my possession - however I am against making each and every item of the past available to everyone.
The collectors factor is one of those, which keeps accounts active - if there is no longer unique stuff, this may as well bring down the motivation of such people, to continue paying for this game.

If at all - maybe as a veteran reward - eventually a token (selectable as reward 1 time per account each 5 years or so) could be made available, which would convert itself to a replica of any targeted item.

i was bitter when they came out with item bless deeds again, cause it killed off the blessed items i had picked up over the years.
i was bitter when they gave everyone a item bless deed on Siege since i had managed to keep all of mine up to that point.
i was bitter then they gave everyone the +5 stat points from the pre-order of AOS 2 years after the fact for no reason(that still makes me see red!).
i was bitter when the re-released shrouds of shadows and chargers of the fallen on legacy tokens.

i guess ive just come to think that nothing is sacred anymore.
everything seems to be getting killed.

I personally see no reason to make something that was created simply to be rare like this (with no other functional use, or special art) to be made available again.

There are two situations where rares should be in some fashion redistributed (in my opinion):

1) The item has a significant functional use. Like all of the replica items etc. And in this case I would even do so sparingly which I think is what they have done. Of course it was done because of duping, but...
I personally think that all even hand outs should be attainable in game somewhere at some really low rate. Maybe like ToT's but everywhere. Or just periodically add them to the spring cleaning thing and cycle groups in and out.

2) The item is monopolizing an art asset. This in my book is NOT ok. Any item art that players current do not have access to should be given to us somehow, and loss of rares be damned. A good example is the Magincia rubble. So much of that stuff should just be general access items. You should be able to make trash for example, and to grow all of those plants from seeds. And I speak as someone who HEAVILY participated in the Mag event, and both of my homes are completely covered in rare rubble items.

all this past year we have seen nothing but community sharing going on.
death after death of rares and expensive items.
so the argument that one item here or one item there should be left alone to remain rare just dosnt fly.

why should i loose the value of one of my items that i have horded for years yet one of your items retain its value because they havnt added it to the latest instalment of the clean up brit?

its a slippery slope and they have already started the ball a rolling at a break neck speed.
there are so few items left that are rare that in fairness to all that has been lost i think they should just fully let the genie out of the bottle and release the last couple items.

i understand better then most how much this sucks.
ive lost billions my old items loosing there value due to re-release after re-release of stuff.

but in all fairness why shouldn't we all bleed together?

and what is the difference between an item worth 300 mill a piece or 1 billion a piece compared to a +5 Stat scroll from exodus?
there is no difference between pixil crack and character advancment.
at the end of the day it all comes down to money (or in this case gold)
to say that a +5 stat scroll from exodus is too valuable and everyone should have one but then say that phoenix armour that sells for 300 mill a piece shouldnt be re-released...... well come on now.

i hear what you are saying poo and i agree entirely and the problem alot of the time is also down to players, i recently took a wander to atlantic and saw some items there lt sash being one of them that there were more on show than actually spawned, the ones not marked replica that is!!!
it would be lovely to think that one day mythic will run a check on all item id's (all items have a unique id) and clear off the extra ones. im old enuff to remember the vine cord sandies wipe

its not all about value decrease of rares for me its the killing of history a rare has
phoenix armor is one of that historical items of UO
imo all historical rares can be brought back into the game as replicas its like irl with souvenires (egyptian artifacts as example)

what would be the benefit to bring back old rares to the game should be the question

dont underestimate the collectors and rares community, you dont want to piss them off
most of them are doing ALOT for the community and history keeping of UO

have replicas drops at events and from champs, place some easter eggs, turn in points for replicas be cool too
but dont you touch originals its not worth it - all you do is make peeps mad....

You have to think that when the Phoenix Armor was released it had HUGE benefit as it had basic resists and was Blessed. HUGE benefits, only now is it just a decoration piece.

now its so useless that its not even worth displaying, infact i dont even know where it is anymore, prolly tucked into someones bank box somewhere.

we cant undo the fact that we have already killed so many rares and collectibles, but should they now stop or continue?

When the Replica sash came out, the NonRep one PLUMMETED in value. LT Sashes originally were going for around a thousand dollars at the time of their release, as they got duped they came down to around a billion gold or a bit cheaper. Now, you can find them for around 100-150m.

Listen, Replicas were put in for the following reasons:
1. A MASS duping spree at that time
2. Trying to phase out the old event items with stats (Which had gotten duped) - This was an effort to make the playing field more level (and as such, EM items are no longer allowed to have stats).


Serverbirths are of a COMPLETELY different nature. They were NEVER intended to actually be put in game. As of such, every collector knows there is a chance their serverbirth can be introduced into the game at a later date, it is the chance you take when buying such items.


(To clear something else up about Phoenix Armor - It was only reintroduced shortly on some Asian shards. The difference being, the original sets helm was misspelled as "Nose" Helm, while the Asian set was properly spelt as "Norse". Last year Origin accidently had some tickets for Phoenix Armor (Could be used to claim a piece of your choosing) but only amounted to around 10 or so tickets. Since the tickets themselves are much rarer, most have not been used.)
