I'm wanting to imbue a cutlass and be able to have it dull copper/shadow iron colored.

Would I be able to craft out of dull copper/shadow iron then imbue or would I have to make with regular ingots then enhance afterwards.

Or....can you dye items made out of regular iron after they have been imbued. These forums are difficult to navigate compared to what they use to be.

The problem with the two colors in question is that they are half of the metals that add properties against imbuing (gold and Valorite being the other two, though I can't remember if Valorite applies it's property to weapons or not).

If you can get the DC or shadow dyes from Treasures of Tokuno II, you'd be better off crafting out of copper, bronze, Agapite or Verite (whichever damage spread fits your taste, since elemental damage doesn't count as a property anymore), then powdering it, imbuing it, and dyeing it the DC or Shadow color.

You can craft out of shadow iron and imbue then, as shadow iron adds nothing that counts as an imbuing slot on weapons. Using several weapons made out of it by myself as it helps saving pof.
With dull copper, you need to enhance after imbuing or live with only 4 imbuing slots as it adds the lower requirements property that does count as an imbuing slot.

damage distribution no longer count towards weight, BUT lower requirement does which dull copper gives.

but shadow iron only give cold damage and xtra durability none of which count towards weight.

refering to these tables: Material Bonus | Mythic Entertainment | Ultima Online

alternativly any weapon even iron ones can be dyed with natural dyes.

That's right - I forgot they fixed the durability counting as a property about the same time as they did the elemental damage counting.
