Why do we still have the current stable system so long after you guys said it needed to be changed?
There is no logical reason that a lumberjack can ride a swampy and have 4 packies tagging along while they chop, but at the end of the day they can't stable them.
Bonus slots were a good idea given the new creatures that were coming out, and SOME of them should be left in (100/110/120, and add HERDING 75/100 slots too!)
But there was never any good reason to cut everyone that wasn't a tamer down to 2 slots.
No one can claim it had to do with server-side data storage since they gave tamers 14 slots.
Seriously just go back to 5 slots/character, and apply the 100/110/120 bonus slots. Add in 2 slots for GM herding to give it a little more life, and let it go at that.
Nobody NEEDS 14 slots (mine are full, but i know I don't need 2 dread horses a reptalon or a hiryu)
While I'm suggesting (which never gets anywhere anyway) I may as well do this...
Make Stablehand NPCs on contract at our houses actually work.
They could only stable 1 animal / character (not counted on stable slots), and only stable domestics (those tradable to anyone), and would charge much higher fees. Say 250g/day.
There is no House-Pet PvP exploitability due to the Any-Owner pet restriction, and while 250g/day is negligable it does qualify as a small gold sink.
IMO it is a system long over due. Player auctions could allow bidders to stable their mounts, you could have a squirrel without giving up your fire beetle, etc.
