Since Krampus is back with Frost Drakes... are they worth taming ?

Yes, they come with overcapped Dexterity but, unfortunately, I understand that a while back it was CAPPED for all pets so, I am not sure whether "capped" overcapped Dexterity might do any good to the Frost Drake....

Anyways, it is 100% Cold damage but then again, so are the Cold Crimson/Platinum Drake...

So, the question to expert Tamers is, other then for the looks, are there practical reasons why one would want to tame this Drake and not a Cold Crimson/Platinum Drake ?

Are there any special abilities that only a Frost Drake has ?

Thanks.

im not an expert but i think the platinum/crimsons come with dragon breath and the frost drake come with cold wind. cold wind can be replaced dragon breath cant. You have more options with a frost

Yes, frost drakes have 'cold wind' as their special move while the other dragons have 'dragon's breath.' Breath eats up a ton of mana and so there is less available for other magic like doing the most damage with Chiv/AI spells.

Dexterity has a cap, but overcapped means those extra points do take effect. They're not wasted. The trade off is you have less to use on the other stats.

Also dragon breathe scales with hp, which is difficult to put on crimson or platinum drakes due to their low total intensity. They also do not swing when doing fire breathe. So you always have a wasted special on them.

The cap is 190 so stop there. They will walk faster than the others. They are a flappy. My dog kills em.

Pet movement speed is capped at 190. Frost Drakes reach slightly higher Intensity ratings than Crimson/Platinum Drakes do. Frost Drakes have Cold Wind, Crimson/Platinum Drakes have Dragon Breath. Dragon Breath does cost a bit of Mana and interrupts their swing timer, but at least it has a cooldown (unlike Cold Wind). Frost Drakes can spam Cold Wind, eating up their Mana.
More DPS testing comparing Chiv+AI+Cold Wind Frost Drake vs Chiv+AI+Dragon Breath Crimson/Platinum Drake needs to be done. Would a Chiv+AI Crimson/Platinum Drake end up delivering more AIs than the Chiv+AI Frost Drake, due to Dragon Breath having a cooldown and Cold Wind not? Yet to be thoroughly tested.

So, I seem to understand and, please, correct me if I am wrong, as of now it is not possible to conclusively say whether a Frost Drake is a better pet as compared to a Cold Crimson/Platinum Drake ?

By the way, what type of training would a Frost Drake shine more with ?

Also, in order to take more advantage of this particular pet, when you say that Frost Drakes reach slightly higher intensity than Crimson/Platinum Drakes do, what numbers are you thinking of ?

That is, if one wanted to Tame a Frost Drake, what Intensity should the tamer aim at, at the very minimum ?

The reason for asking this, is that these pets are not an easy tame most notably because Krampus spawns, depending on the Shard and the players doing Trade Orders, can be quite scarce and so fewer Frost Drakes spawned, they spawn in quite a limited number per Krampus and, usually, players kill them right away....

So, it is quite difficult with being picky to find one spawned with a high intensity rating... they might drop dead by another player at the spawn before one can tame them....

People seem to leave the Frost Drake alone if someone is attempting to tame it... at least so far that is the case. Not too hard to snag one, lead it away from the battle and tame it. Of course that is subject to change once I post this and the griefers start up lol.

Also curious if anyone has replaced Cold Wind. The Frost Drake that i saw had ai/chiv/cold wind so adding AI which is a special move similar to cold wind didnt replace it.

i have a few frost mites and they spawn with Cold Wind. I’ll have to check if my trained ones still have it later today.

in terms of raw training points, frost drakes reach a higher level and their spawn spread seems very small. If you plug in the numbers of a low 50s intensity frost drake into a crimson drake calculation, it comes out to 100%. I know it’s not perfect because one has cold wind and the other has dragon breath, but I think it is a good proxy.

In my opinion the large majority of frost drakes will be higher intensity than almost all crimson drakes.

Overall intensity only means slightly higher hp or modestly large mana pool once fully trained. As someone said, no one has really tested two equally built side by yet to see what the dps difference is.

My gut feeling is that frost drakes are superior. Dragon breathe really sucks badly because the pet stops swinging entirely for a long animation. That said I hope someone confirms by testing
