Ship questions for those in Fel/Siege

I recently re-activated so forgive me if this is widespread knowledge already.

1) I understand that the galleon ships can be rendered immobile. Can the galleon ships be completely destroyed in combat/Pvp?

2) Cannons wear out and can be destroyed through use? through combat damage?

3) Can a ship bombard those on shore with the grapeshot? How is the damage from grapeshot on players?

4) On the large brittanian ship, can it be dry docked with the add-ons in place?

5) Can the smaller boats be damaged by cannon fire?

6) About how many rounds of fire does it take to immobilize a galleon class ship? I play on Siege so this can get real expensive there...

Thanks

Another question,

Is it possible through the clever use of macros in UO Assist or Pinco to run the guns on a broadside, solo, on a galleon class ship?

Thanks again,

They can only be 'scuttled' which lets anyone else board and loot the hold and crew bodies. The repairs to the ships take a lot of boards, cloth and ingots. Ship repair is very expensive.

2) Cannons wear out and can be destroyed through use? through combat damage?
They are damaged by use and will eventually blow up. Don't recall if enemy cannon fire causes them damage.

3) Can a ship bombard those on shore with the grapeshot? How is the damage from grapeshot on players?
I've fired at ogres and such on shore using a ships cannons. Never tried it on a player.

Haven't gone after a merchant ship in quite a while. I think it was 13 heavy cannon hits on the Tokuno & Orc ships and 20 on a gargoyle ship. Using Light cannons doubles the number of shots needed but uses less saltpeter.

A heavy cannon shot takes 30 saltpeter each, 24 for the powder charge and 6 for the fuse. A light charge takes 6 saltpeter. Buying Chessie saltpeter costs hundreds of gold each, Siege saltpeter is much cheaper. You can mine saltpeter in dungeons and along seacliffs wearing a luck suit but it's a long process.

The tactics you use are very important since they can save you a fortune in repair costs, or rack up a very high repair bill.

You can buy saltpeter from the NPC Alchemist in Sea Market. May try the mining thing at some point. Try to decide on whether to get a big ship or not.... expensive on Siege.

Only the galleons can mount cannons. You will likely find two alchemists selling the saltpeter at the sea market. Check both prices.

1. ships can only be scuttled and rendered immobile in pvp/pvm combat -not completely destroyed. The immobile ship can sail extremely slow to get it to the shore for repairs.

2. Heavy canons will fire 75 times before breaking. on the 75th shot the cannon will break beyond repair. cannons will take combat damage, but i know of no way to tell how much.

3. yes. grapeshot works on those standing on shore and on any other ship. damage is pretty good, but since canon is slow it isn't very effective. It is also expensive for something like that.

4. Don't know about dry docking brit ship. I do know you can dry dock any ship with unloaded canons placed and it works fine.

5. yes. legacy or old type ships can be scuttled. from an orc ship using heavy canon, it takes 5 shots to scuttle a legacy ship. it will take more shots from tokuno, gargish, and brit ships, but not sure how much more.

6. Orc ships have a canon damage bonus. gargish ships have a hit point bonus.

From an orc ship using heavy canon it takes 11 shots to scuttle a tokuno ship or another orc ship. it takes 15 shots to scuttle a gargish ship. I have never bothered to scuttle a brit ship, but i think it might take 20 or 21 shots from the orc ship.

from a tokuno/gargish/brit ship using heavy canon it takes 15 shots to scuttle an orc ship and a tokuno ship. It takes 18 shots to scuttle a gargish ship. no idea how much on a brit ship -25?

if you are hunting ships, orc ship will scuttle faster and cheaper.

-in addition for trammel, ships owned by characters in the same guild can be fired on and scuttled in trammel, but not looted if security is set proper. I haven't tested warring guilds, but I suspect the same is true in trammel as well.

-canon range is 10 tiles so you can scuttle two ships that are side by side with the ammo it takes to scuttle one.

-NPC ships will attack each other if you can get/find them in range and if you can get one to start firing its canon.

-in felucca if you scuttle a player ship next to land, you can take the canon. if at sea you can't
