Okay if you have cockroaches you get bug spray and blast the suckers. You got rats...you get a cat, then realize the cat would rather eat cat food than hunt rats so you go buy rattraps. How on this good green earth does one get rid of shard pests? I'm talking about X shard invaders of the nastiest variety. I will NOT name any player or guild names. If you play Legends you'll know what I'm referring to.

This X shard guild showed up on Legends about a year ago. They seemed okay at first, but then. . . Well its like we come in peace, shoot to kill. I don't play much because I am far too busy with university. The rare occasions I do get to play are precious to me. I don't like some snot nosed punk X sharders suddenly telling me and other residences of our shard they are going to make Legends their PRIVATE shard!?!? Hold you durn horses there a minute cowboy, I pay my subs same as everyone else and I been homesteading Legends since 2000. As far as I'm concerned Ya'll can leave the way ya'll came in. There's the door don't let it hit ya where the good lord split ya!

Also I don't appreciate being told I DO NOT deserve a Luna house because I don't eat, sleep and breath UO. Well Darlin', that house was a gift from an old friend that said "adios" to UO about 5 years (I think memory's fuzzy). Some of us are trying to get an education, make a living etc. I really wish this ilk would return to the shard they were ran off of. BTW, it not nice to lay your trash on folks on other shards, how about recycle them into something useful?

In the grand scheme of things I really don't care ; I mean its all pixels and someday they're gonna pull the plug on UO and it will all just dissolve into the ether. I'd like to think I'll be here to see that, but I'm not so sure anymore. After coming "nez à nez" with death recently, I KNOW there are waaay more important things. I'm lucky to be here on this planet. I'm lucky I walked away from that wreck with only a broken arm. I'm lucky I realize that every single day. (Before anyone screams BS and shenanigans I have pictures of my former beetle and scans of my x-rays I can post, however I am not responsible for any gastrointestinal pyrotechnics cased by said X-rays. Hey its a pretty gross break.)

I'd love to know how to take out the trash. If its not possible then I'll take it as a sign that the time has come to move on. Its not just me and Luc. I have several guild mates that are at this point, too. Is there a known way to run a guild off a small under populated shard? Parts of this post were written with my tongue firmly planted in my cheek and liberally sprinkled with wit. I hope you take this in the context it was written. I in no way mean to be hateful or anything. Nowdays I try to approach everything with wit and a sense of humour. There's far too many tears in the world, and I have no wish to be the cause of anymore.

You are asking how to get rid of other players on a shard who pay for their subscription like everyone else?

Hate to break it to you, but MMO players come in all types; kind, secluded, a-holes, etc. The only way to get rid of a group of a-holes in a small shard is to be an even a bigger a-hole. However, there is no guarantee that would even drive them off and would likely just make enemies of them that could lead down an even worse road of harassment, stress, etc.

Well, if the shard as a whole gets together, won't buy from them, won't rez them when needed, won't interact or assist in any way, I'm sure after a certain length of time they would go away. Problem is, everyone wont come together on it. And I'm speaking just to the A*hole actors, the x sharders and such are part of the game. Heck, when I can, I do other shard events and idoc too. *shrugs*
But I don't talk trash while I'm doing it, I have enough sense to know that I am a guest in their house, and may someday need a friend there

We had a similar group come to lake austin not to long ago, They talked a good game in gen chat but didn't end up staying too long, I understand wholeheartedly about having a life outside of UO, but it would be nice to be able to play UO all day.

My suggestion ?

Call out for help to the nice UO players Community.

Cohordinate a mutual effort from nice and good PvPers players across other shards to come over to Legends and play it steadily for some time (hopefully they may take advantage of Shard Shields and so not have to sustain transfer costs) and bring a tough time to those who are wrecking avoc on Legends. Perhaps after some time they will have enough to pester around your shard and move out of it ?

It is a try, maybe it will work, maybe not, but perhaps it is worth trying it out ?

Well talking manure like "We OWN this shard, don't like it leave." They have vowed to control Governorship of every town. Not this election but the one before it they were trading votes to X shard friends. Basically if their Xshard buddies would make chars on Legends and vote for them, then they'd vote for their buddies on the shards they play. Add that to the felucca pvp BS such as attack everyone that attempt to do Barracoon and nasty behavior at idocs. I'd have to ask Luc and Electra for specifics on that I don't have the patience for idoc sitting too hyper lol. They actually make me miss L^D, BNA, VFW and OF! guilds at least those guys were entertaining.

*HUGS* Uriah my DQ buddy how would we organize a gathering of guilds on Legends (this would exclude the troublemakers) maybe forge a truce and work together to clean the trash off our shard. Someone suggested inviting some good pvpers to make life uncomfortable for the squatters . That's a good description.

Sadly, boycotts work for a time, eventually what happens is they turn off their guild tags, change names, join guilds on that shard (some times looting from the inside), but in general the only way to make it less attractive is NOT to feed the fire. Cut off as much gold to them as you can, stop helping them, don't smack talk an fan the flames. Even then they'll likely only move to another shard, and cycle back through those that offer them the most return.

Stick with those you have enjoyed time with. Turn off Gen chat, use the ignore function.

From the sounds of it, these guys aren't very good, which is why they left whatever shard they were on previously, so they picked one that's not very active to do their thing.

Having done some shard hopping myself in the past (going from Lake Superior to Napa, Drach, and Legends, though I never actually managed to do the things I planned on whenever I visited a new shard - powerscrolls or Doom arties), I would be more than happy to send my own Red over there.

Just refuse to deal with them, then hope they move on. If they're not making money, they'll head somewhere else.

If I had a nickle for every guild who has said " WE WILL OWN THE SHARD" I could pay for a full year of UO for over half my accounts.
Sweety Ignore them.
They are there for a short time when the rest of the players ignore them too.
They will soon find out if they are benned from vendor shops enough and will soon find others who will not give them the time of day.
It's one thing to move a guild to a new shard but to harrass the natives ....... this is bad juju.
Do your best to ignore them and look on the bright side you can make a tad off the trash in their wake...

I haven't been on Legends much lately, although I didn't do many Fel spawns anyway. Sounds like you all were doing Fel spawns, collecting power scrolls without much interference, and now a bunch from another shard has come over to take over the spawns and collect all the loot? Hasn't that kind of drama always been present in UO in one form or another?

Its not just that they want to control ALL the Governorships, they've disrupted hunting in shame tram, and blackthorn's dungeon. Right now they're all kissing up to the EM and peeps they got governorship of Britain, Jehelom, and Moonglow. They're just like stinkweeds in a rose garden....unpleasant and unwanted!

About the elections, that is something I have had troubling my UO thougts for quite some time......

As it is now, it indeed can be that some players might alter the true will of the players of a shard into whom they want as Governors for their Towns in their Shard.

This, since as of now anyone can cast a vote in the election even if they do not actually play that Shard, they only need to have a character there....

Now, how much work would it be to change the "eligibility to vote" so that only characters who have been playing on THAT Shard for an X time before the elections would be eligible to vote on that Shard ?

I am not saying a mere existance like it is for Holiday gifts, I am actually talking about LOGIN TIME active on that given Shard.

This could effectively be a discriminant to allow eligibility to vote only to those who actually PLAY that Shard and not to just about everyone thus disrupting elections and the votes of the effective true players of that Shard.

I know this is extra work for the Devs, and I am sorry that because of disruptive players they have to do extra work to contain them, but I think it is IMPORTANT that the Developers protect with their work the good players of Ultima Online rather then the disruptive ones.....

Could it be done ? Would it be a reasonable amount of extra work for the coding of voting eligibility or too much work to make it feasible ?

And actually, if the Devs can code in actual login time on any given Shard, this info might also be usefull for them to track down unattended scripters and look into them more in details....
For example, if after coding this they see characters actively logged into a given Shard 24/7..... well, then a GM could step in and look into what these characters are doing and whether that much time logged in is all attended or unattended....

So, there could be side benefits for actually having such code detecting the active login time of characters on shards which could make this extra work worth doing, even past the benefit of preventing wrong elections of Governors.....

It's six months to the next elections. Anything can happen before then. The current governors can rally support and promote activity on the shard that will get the shard's regular players behind them.
The shard 'owner' guild can get bored and move on.
I've come across similar types from time to time myself - on one occasion my friend and I were told that we should leave the area where we were hunting because he, the speaker, wanted to hunt there. His reasoning for this demand was that, because he was American and UO is an American game, he had more right to the spawn than we had as Europeans on the Europa server. Naturally we ignored him and carried on. He lured all the dungeon's spawn to us. We stood back to back cross healing, took everything he threw at us until he got bored. We took home more gold that trip than we'd ever gotten before :D
Don't let idiots get to you. When I meet such types when alone I usually think to myself 'You're darn well NOT going to spoil my game, there's other places to hunt than here' and move on. Settle in nicely somewhere else in game and put the idiots firmly out of my mind.

Maybe I'm a bit spoiled from at least a small population left on Atlantic, but last time I checked everybody was free to attack in Fel. My simple rule of thumb is: If I can't stand PvP, I don't go to Fel or expect to be killed. No offense, but to me it sounds like your shard was a bit too much "your" shard, if you really complain about getting attacked at spawning in Fel.

Well the first step is to give them attention by posting on a message board about them. :D

Determining their motives for spawning are very revealing as for their goals. If they were solely after excitement with the pvm aspects of spawning, then they would be spawning in Ilshenar again & again at different hours of day & night, so try to observe. On the other hand if they spawn for boredom, pvp, or wealth you can quite effectively cause a reaction by taking action.

First start by observing the enemy, & becoming familiar with their game play. Then take steps to organizing an alliance of as many people people as you can muster, including anyone that has pvp experience (use what ya got & train them). Try to have someone gain friendly relations with them, & become a 'temporary' guildy. Find out all of their blue toons, & have everyone put them on a list to ignore (except for the spy of course). Cutting off communication is critical from their BLUE toons (to conserve room for names that can go to blue facets), more so than their RED toons. Have your alliance find out what they buy off current vendor shop, & stop selling anything they need (which also may force them to make deals with the spy which is good). The idea is to control their habits, observe what they buy off vendors. Get the shopkeepers to participate & stop selling items they depend on if any. Lastly & more critically the Alliance will need to scout spawns actively (daily) in the Legacy Dungeons & T2A (on a stealther, not a ghost, ghosting is too obvious), in attempt to dominate & control the flow of scroll stockpiling.

Just a recap on the order of events:
-gain intel
-organize a large alliance
-plant a spy in their guild
-ignore list their blues
-deny their consumerism
-defend/dominate their champ spawns

If your guild can execute these steps it will have caused at very least some measure of effect on their goals. If you can't organize enough people to defend champ spawns, eventually they will slowly get bored over time after stockpiling massive scrolls, & guildies of theirs at that point may start to disperse, as are the natures of Xshard guilds. Usually an Xshard guild is never permanent, unless their guild roster is massive with a motivating leader.

FYI:
If through the course of the year nothing seems to work, you have established countermeasures listed above yet they are still up in your shards face, then you have made an error in observing their motives as per say the first step. At which case you should put a halt on activities & just make due and alter your game play around them, seeing how your efforts will not of made the slightest bit of difference. Guilds rise & fall, at which case you can only hope their guildies developed different interest & move on or quit playing.

PS:
As a last case resort, if your Alliance ever was formed & wanted to continue efforts, have them join the enemy guild, thus building their strength. Then have the Alliance try to persuade an influence from within to Xfer & play on a different shard (have observed this occurring in two guilds this past year & it killed the guild internally from 15 active members down to zero & disbanding). There is also an issue of counter intel leaking at any point, which is always a calculated risk, owell.

First off hello DevilsOwn. it has been a long time since I have seen you. I left the shard a long time ago but now i'm back. How is Cortier. is the guild still there or has it gone bye bye? I used to be in the guild. Jirel as far as Governor of Britain i'm the current governor and hope to make improvements to the city. Jirel you seem to be accusing me of stuff I know nothing about. I haven't even met you and our trying to slam me????? I'm not here to own a shard. i'm hoping that more people move to the shard to play. the only idoc attacking I know of is when Violet decided she wanted to attack me and the guild i'm in killed her. Normally I don't reply to such childish behavior but YOU DON'T KNOW ME since I have never met you in the game.

If you don't like whats going on, just leave or ignore whats going on around you. but trying to come on Stratics and look for sympathy isn't going to work. The whole shard knows you and your sister and both are full of drama, hence the reasons why you was booted from a good guild with awesome ppl that all they do is help one another in game. Yes we X sharded for a more peaceful environment, yes we pvp when needed and do IDOCS but I and the rest of the guild members take offence to your words. Just a little advice, grow up and quit the drama! we don't care what you do in game you or your sister. Don't think you are the talk of TeamSpeak cause your not. We have more important and better things to do then talk about you and your sister. So on that note your KOS to all of us. Cya in felucca if you dare.
