shame loot upgrade..... falls short?

went out on Origin tonight with a guild mate.
we went into Shame and killed up some Unbound EV's to see if the loot was any better.

it was..... a little better.

still not worth the time or band aids.

still no where NEAR what it was when shame first got its make over.

no..... where.... NEAR!

if we are still tweaking stuff on Origin, then lets TWEAK!
(thats the Queen's 'we' i use there.... like "we will go take over that country" where she dosn't actually DO anything and we do, but it sounds better)

I farm shame everyday on 2-3 different shards, I checked out shame on Origin and like the top post said it was a tiny bit better. I did notice a few less cursed items but I am still seeing no legendary artifacts even on the chaos vortex and unbound evs. I don't have a luck suit on Origin or a char that can solo the burning mages so I will have to farm some more when it goes live on Atlantic and see what the numbers look like.

Nothing should be what you want, they are rare and hard to get for a reason.

I don't nearly have the time to play as much as I used to, also being mainly pve I hunt... a lot.
Since Shame revamp dropped, any time i've had i've been in there pretty much.

A good ring or braclet now n again (nothing as fantastic as the braclet someone posted awhile back that was better then orny)
A good shield now n again.
140-150 luck rare, really rare if not cursed (dun care about the other 2 negatives since will be on tamer luck suit)
Haven't yet found 1 good 1 handed weapon that my melee could use in pve that wasn't cursed/brit/unrepairable.
Have found 1-2 two handers that are decent w/ no negs.
Slayer weapons rare, decent slayer really rare, good slayer w/ no negatives is a myth.

Way better then the loot from the old world loot tables, but if your done with a imbueing character & don't need the mats.... you get better gold from old school mobs :sad3:

This is the only legendary artifact I've pulled out of Shame (Trammel side) on Origin this week, since the new publish went live there.

Maybe 1-2 hours on the particular day I got that piece? The character I used was a tamer with 1075 luck on her suit. Out of bags of loot consisting of 55 to 60 items, she usually gets 4 or 5 "artifact" pieces, maybe 10 "major magic pieces," and the whole bag will unravel to approximately 4-8 relic fragments (sometimes none, though), 50-60 essence, and 50-60 residue. I did get a relic fragment one time on Origin this last week from a "lesser magic" item, but otherwise the relic fragments are coming primarily from the "artifact" and "major magic" pieces, occasionally from a "greater magic" item.

I honestly haven't seen any significant improvement in the Shame loot on Origin with this last publish versus the other shards that haven't received the publish. On one of those dead, west coast shards, bags of the same quantity of loot from the same locations in Shame (levels 2 and 3, anything deeper just takes too long for me to mess with when playing solo) that my tamer with about 800 luck on her suit gathered this week, yield just about the same amount of relic fragments, essence, and residue. Oddly, when I went to Shame on Atlantic the other night with my tamer who has a paltry 120 luck on her suit, she seemed to be getting better pieces off level 2 than I've seen on Shame on Origin or elsewhere, plus it was absolutely dead as far as players go. I rarely play on Atlantic, so I was really shocked that at that hour (maybe 10-11 pm East coast time), no one else was in there.

I also haven't seen any messages about gaining fame or karma on Origin when killing the mobs in Shame. I'll have to try taking in a character that isn't already glorious or illustrious though and see if that makes any difference. I think I have a dexxer in training there that maybe can handle some of the level 1 stuff....

i should be a little more specific.

when shame first came out i was in there like a dirty shirt farming the unbound EVs.
on a average UEV you would pull 8-10 magic items.
the breakdown of them would usually end up being in the neighborhood of 2 legendary artifact items, 2 greater and major artifacts with 2-3 lesser artifacts and rounded out with a few major magic items.

that was with a nice luck suit on.

now, on origin last night, with the same character, with the same luck suit all the UEV's i killed on each of them i was getting a couple lesser magic, couple greater magic and a couple major magic items. then usually one of either lesser or greater artifact. and one time, one legendary artifact.

so the loot is wayyyyyyyyyyy lower then it was before, and honestly not much better that it has been for the last month.

definitely not worth the expense of time and supplies to do them.

now, while im complaining by the drastic drop in artifact level items, keep in mind that im not saying anything about cursed or non cursed and all those other mods.
because for me i just burn all this stuff down for relics to fuel my imbuing addiction.
i keep maybe 1% of what i was farming out of shame.

and with what they have changed it too now, ill be keeping 0% and the dungeon will remain as empty as it has been for the last month or so.

which is what they wanted to fix, no?

Before the Shame revamp, any loot just wasn't worth the trouble picking over except for a few renowned artifacts. You could argue that was because of the ever escalating crafting perks and imbuing, but the fact was that loot was pretty worthless and few people farmed the old dungeons. Then the Shame revamp gave us some very nice and maybe overpowered items, taken away by a super-nerf of the loot. Even with the small boost patch 75 gives us, I just don't see any reason to farm PVE anywhere once again.

This is just not enough of a change in loot intensity to get me back into the dungeons, and it certainly isn't going to entice any new players of retired vets into coming back to UO.

And I would disenchant both without hesitation.... brittle, cursed and unrepairable... worthless.

ya, and like i said, normaly a person could get a bag of those out in a night of hunting level 5 in shame and get some relics out of them, but now ya get next to nothing in there.

oh, and this is going live to all shards.

yaaa for people actually telling the devs that something on origin needs tweaking before going live.

Ummm.... I missed this. WHAT is the issue and can it be avoided, other than not going into Shame???
Not really. It seems that since the dungeon revamps gear and things have been getting lost. It was first noticed in shame but now seems to be occuring everwhere but it doesn't seem to happen often.

Another legendary artifact pulled out of Shame on Origin. This makes three pieces now that are useless. I'd be willing to run around with stuff like this for PvM hunting if they were just "cursed" and/or "brittle," but that "Cannot be repaired" mod, in my opinion, just makes them totally worthless.

I think the idea behind adding these disadvantages is to make them temporary yet quite powerful items. Even if you use it for PvM every day with all those disadvantages, I doubt it will be destroyed after a couple of days. They have 75 durability which means it will be destroyed the same time any of your items with around 150 durability reaches to zero. In my case, it takes weeks for something like that to happen.

I wasn't around during these changes but I remember comments like "all players wear the same equipment, use the same artifacts, once you have those artifacts, you wear them for life..". Now we can use different equipments and use different weapons, the only disadvantage of them is that they can be lost and/or we can't use them for life. I don't think they are totally worthless, I think the rng gathered the wrong mods for those particular items but it is not always the case. I have recently found a bow which I immediately used against a Purifying Blood Elemental , it did amazingly well.

Tis sad that players go to all the trouble of testing and the Devs can't even bother coming on here with even a thank you and let people know why. When Shame first came out the loot was great, esp for unravling, then they nerfed it way to much (why we really have no idea because the Devs really dont talk to us anymore). Now they make another change and we get the same O same O. The only time we hear anything is when our leader is tweeted and he decides to grace us with his wisdom. 14 years of UO and I am getting that UO/Devs really dont give a **** about us anymore and we are just suppose to take what they give us. SAD SAD DAY

i think it was said initially that the shame loot got borked when Wrong came out and it was unintentional.
so that is cool.
they where gonna fix it for us.
so we waited..... and waited..... and waited some more.
then this pub comes out with the 'fix' and the cure is just as bad as the sickness.

so we tell them that it hasn't been fixed.
and they still push it through as 'fixed'.

i think that is what is miffing people.
or me at least.
will i stop playing.

but im a little crestfallen that im running around testing this and it dosnt seem to be for anything,
when i could just sit back in my castle on sonoma and count my gold and laugh manically, hehe

The issue isn't really that the dev team borks the updates but simply they do not play the game. If anyone played the game for a few hours a week, was in a vent/TS server with other players and interacted with the system they would have a much better understanding of the dynamics. Sadly I do not think this is the case and has not been for a few years, though I'd be happy to be told different. While I can understand that coding is a vastly different field than playing, you can't be a chef without tasting the food.

LOL one of my mages would carry that warfork just for the MR9 it has on it.

I have lamented in the past about armors and weapons and outfitting chars. I always loved the old days, of course GM made was always the best, but if you lost a piece of armor, by death or wearing out, while hunting, ya just grabbed a piece off of a mob corpse and kept on trucking. I look at this kind of like a return to the "equip on the go" of early years. You have a great suit? fine. Brittle can't be repaired should be no problem. While you're hunting pay attention, if your tunic is wearing, watch your loot and pull out a good one ahead of time. Same with everything you're wearing. There's been some awesome suits built out of shame loot, not all 100% perfect, but I do like the equip/replace as you go dynamic they put in...even if it might have been accidental LOL

Ok. Been in 4th level Shame killing diseased blood/Poison/Air elementals for 8+ hours yesterday n 6+ today now hunting (had these last 2 days off). Lucksuit 1836 - w/ statue (60min) 2136

The drops are better for: Turning in for points w/ Britain Cleanup & also for more relics.

I thought high luck was supposed to give a chance for a "clean item" (no negatives like cursed/brittle/UR) drop. Before the patch I found a few that were "clean" that werent just a ring/braclet/shield, but now EVERYTHING has all 3 negatives (cursed/brit/ur). I have not found 1 weapon, 2h or otherwise that didnt have at least 2 of the 3 of those if the item was lesser artifact or above. I also haven't found 1 piece of armor/shield with 140-150 luck off a mob since patch.. anyone else?

I would rather go back to silver weapons, slayers n vanquishers rather then all this weird + regens, eaters, etc.

If we could just get rid of CURSED as a negative I'd be happy. I have Comcast, I lose connection to a mob, he steals my weapon, someone else comes along n beats em before I can rez, or corpse decay before my isp comes back, goodbye weapon via comcast. Not cool.

You should re-visit mobs that have that 'acid-effect', most all low level Shame mobs. 'Been there, Done that' enough that I use specially designed 'disposable' weapons there, and SR5 armor only. With that in mind... today, and because I knew it would happen.. when my special weapon hit "0" I switched to a soulseeker, looking first at the durability, I then killed 1 acid ele, and 2 slimes - durability dropped from 50 to 37. Brand new i probably would not even be able to finish off a single spawn with a shame weapon. Pitiful and sad, falling way short as desirable loot, imo.

It shows I'm clueless when it comes to melee. I always use ranged attack, so that's probably why the durability of my armor does not decrease that fast. I also carry a lot of slayer bows and seldom use one for too long. It seems the players who use ranged attack have more advantage when it comes to brittle and/or unrepairable items.

NO GOOD you will not change out stuff that is cursed. The lrc makes it even worse cause you would change out a suit and then just lose it right away. So no point in using it. Resis is good that is about it. This would be ok if it was not cursed. Then again you can not fix it. So not good to replace might be good for new player to use as temp. This is going to wear out fast also right.. I say burn it. We need loot that we can use and relics so we can make stuff. So I take it this would be a relic so that part is good.

ive gotten two items that are legendary and that are not cursed this past week,,however, both are brittle and cannot be repaired,so im not sure if ill use them at all,and they dont seem to be that great anyway,or i just dont know my stuff wich is usually the case!

IMO if someone is off topic in a thread they should get auto banned. People beyotch about multiple threads on the same topic and they pancake about pulling up a thread with relevant information, you can't win.

I think thread necromancy is ok when it is still on topic with the original discussion.

As for Shame loot, I am still hoping for some tweaks. First and foremost, the likelihood for debilitating mods that increase power needs to be reduced. I would be happy with more clean items that had corresponding less power.

They also need to do the following:

- Disassociate SDI with the vicious/slaughter group
- Add SDI to the Wizardry group
- Increase the max FC to 2 on jewelry
- Add SDI and DI as possible mods on Armor
- Add runic tinker kits so we can reforge jewelry

I've found that negative luck nets better results than positive luck in regards to getting items with less but usable mods.

That stuff would be AWESOME to use in a suit. No insurance makes the new Shame loot amazing.

Almost all of my suits are shame loot. It beats out crafted/imbued stuff anyday.

Yes but making it better would make it better for everyone so you would still have balance and we could still move to the point where the loot system is worth having and makes the game better for everyone who plays it.
