It has 4 numbers but how you count them and how it works?

You don't navigate the ships with e sextant. That just gives you your location. You use a map for navigation. You set the pins for your route and hand it to the Steersman, they give it back and begin automatically navigating to where you set the pins.

I think that's how it goes, it's been a long time. Might be a bit more to it, like a command to start the trip and stop it, maybe?
