I was on my way to the Cavern of Discarded and look what I find far from home....

Fix it already :( If I hadnt just run into it by chance, I would've probably spent the next hour or so trying to hunt it down grrrrrrrr

People on GL's are ALWAYS leading them away.... seems everytime I go to the Cavern I spend half the dang night searching for the stinking Renowned and never do get to spend any time with the spawn, because I get so stinking irritated looking for the thing, I just eventually give up.

There's two ways to fix this sad creature... and the dev's choose to opt for option 3 on the fix. Do nothing at all. First way would be to up the loot on them of course. Option 2 is make them have a short leash on them a la the champs at the spawns. Since option 1 and 2 seem to be no good, they just stay with option 3. Probably cause its easiest.

It shouldnt matter whats easiest for the Devs to be honest. It should teleport back to its area if taken XX amount of tiles away from the spawn area. End of story =/ They just need to get it done.

they should fix it like the other champ spawns where, where it would pop back to a certin place if lured out so far

No good. SA dungeon is not mean to be like other things. They design the dungeon to be interactive where a champ spawn and creature can end up else where and move around the dugeon like 1 big level. They have to go with increasing the loot on them to make them worthwhile to kill. Once they are sought after to kill they will be rotated very quickly.

Interactive.. fine... griefers hiding the thing or ppl who are too lazy to kill it hiding the thing.. not fine and not very interactive.. :rant2:

I really don't understand why it would be difficult to update their loot tables or clone some other creature's table ... but the rats have way too many worthwhile items on them and some of their items should be spread out I think.

A few times I have seen the Pixie reknowned dragged into the rat spawns. Saw one guy sit there and mop up surrounding spawn while the rat renowned and the pixie fought. Then when rat was nearly dead he would chop a lil bit to get loot rights. I watched him for a good 20 minutes while I cleaned up the junk loot layin about on the floor. He dragged it to each of the the 3 spawns in turn.

I absolutely hate when a creature I'm fighting suddenly teleports away. What if I wasn't the one who even lured it off, and just happened to come across it... I start beating on it, get it almost dead and *poof*.. off it goes. This happened quite a bit to me with the town invasions.

What would be nice if the creatures, once abandoned, would simply path-find their way back to their spawning location.

I've seen this too. Havent seen it as far down as the Cavern, but have run into the pixie closer to its own spawn. It was wiping out fire demons and lava elementals. Dont know who brought it down there, but it was a waste not to loot what it was killing =/

How about this.
If the creature sits for 60 minutes with out being attack. He goes home to have a sandwich and disappears.

The spawn starts again.

If they would fix this, you wouldnt have to worry about it, would you?

I'll often begin browsing on internet or even have taken bathroom breaks while my melee is tanking one of them rat bosses, those rat bosses hit like a mongbats (it feels like so with max DCI, Resist, Parry/Bushido, and HCI+life leech) but they have a trillion fazillion hit points so I notice people get tired of putting in the time to kill them, even if they are capable.

So another option is to increase the damage those rat bosses do by a whole lot and also maybe have them cast paralyze/teleport/dismount spell too, so that way they have better chance of killing them griefers, teach them a lesson, and scare them off from trying to lure again, while making those rat bosses interesting/fun to fight.

Not only does dragging off the renowned screw up others it is a blatant exploit when the pixie boss is dragged from spawn to spawn to kill everything for the player.

I would also like to see the little boxed in areas in the rat spawn fixed so rats will not spawn in the areas that dexers cannot reach them, totally halting the spawns progression.

The code to fix this issue already exist (somewhat implemented in doom). It would need to be changed so it would allow for the renowned to be in a give area instead of certain distance from spawn tile?

Will the Dev do it? who knows.....

The rat loot isn't so bad. Rate the imbuing special ingredients at 100K each. The rats can drop seeds of renewal, various essences, abyssal cloth, and a few more. Get even one special item and you have paid for the fight.

I agree that the spawn should be fixed so things snap back into place.

However, I am sick of people throwing the word "Exploit" around like its the biggest sin out there. The fact is one of the biggest reasons I play UO is because of the freedom to play how I want. From the very beginning of the game we have had Herding to lead things where we want them and we have had Provocation to make monsters fight each other. We have invisibility spells to hide us from mobs that are attacking us, and the devs have INTENTIONALLY programmed in Evil and Good alignment in monsters so that they fight each other. I see NOTHING wrong with this tactic. It is creative and it is in no way EXPLOITING. It is using every single system in the exact way it was intended, to accomplish a goal in a way that the devs have allowed and even encouraged since UO was born.

Just because someone wants to put some thought and effort into their strategy does not mean its an exploit. If you want to play a game where you have to do things a certain way,and you're limited to a certain playstyle in a certain class go play WoW. The freedom to experiment and use different systems in this game to accomplish different tasks is what makes this game great. People need to stop calling "exploit" every time someone comes up with a better way of handling a situation.

Duping, causing clients to crash, breaking into peoples homes and stealing stuff using hacks, and finding ways to insta kill other players are exploits and should be bannable. Luckily I have not seen most of those in UO. But people should NEVER be banned for being creative in their playstyle.

CREATIVITY and INGENUITY are NOT EXPLOITS!

I'm fairly certain that the DEV's never intended folk to "cheapen" working the spawns by using the pixie to do the work for them...

I will say I'd like to see them implement some way of having the Renowneds return "home" after a certain period of time....

This hunting them down crud is for the birds... I think it stinks.... most any given time I go down to the rat spawn I end up never finding the stinking boss..... and all that spawns there is the wolves. What a crock....

And I too would like to mention that those area's that are "boxed in" need addressing..... even as a mage you can NOT kill what's in there. I am forever getting the message that the "target can not be seen"..... which is silly since I"m looking RIGHT AT IT!..... Anyway... I think the spawns need fixing .... Otherwise I really love the Abyss.....

Oh..... and Navrey's lair needs cleaned up of all the perma stuck webs.

exploit = unintended use

Hey, I use it too on occasion. I certainly wouldn't rank it as creative but I get your point and agree. I, too, enjoy the freedom of doing things in creative ways. All I am saying is that it was doubtful that it was intended to work this way. i would be happy with the ratmen staying put. and the dead areas being reachable by all or adjusted. Henchrats take way too many holy lights. hopefully i will be able to use teleport scrolls to get in the area in the future.
