Seeing # of players on Shard selection screen

I dunno how to make a poll... but I thought it'd be nice to see how many players there were in each shard at the Shard selection screen...be nice to see your ping and how populated that server was w/out having to log in and ask people, or post on Stratics and ask.

It would be even better to get a message of how many people are online on your shard when you log on.

No MMO actually does this. At least not these days.

I wouldn't mind such a feature but can think of many more I'd be more interested in.

They used to publish the number of players online for each server in either EQ or WoW can't remember which anymore. At the time they stopped doing it an announcement was released that it violated players privacy to publish how many were on a given server. Not sure how true it is but it was the reason given for the change. There may be good reason shard populations are not published.
