Scroll Binders: A great idea that *could* be MUCH better

I admit that I just got around to reading about the scroll binders and they seem like a great idea but they *could* be much better. As I understand it, if I add a total of eight (8) 105 Magery scrolls to a scroll binder, I would get a 110 Magery scroll. That is all well and good but, IMHO, this system is only going to help the large guilds that farm power scrolls continuously. This isn't going to help the average player who can't afford a 120 magery, 120 taming or +25 stat scroll.


I know that EA/Mythic's intent with this new system, as with all of the other new systems in SA is to reduce the item count. They have done a fantastic job of giving us ways to get better stuff while vastly reducing the item count.

To get to the point, since imbuing basically allows players to create uber-equipment, why not make a small change to scroll binders to allow ordinary players to more easily afford/obtain the uber power scrolls? Why not allow any eight (8) 105 power scrolls to be converted into a 110 power scroll and so on?

It goes without saying that the same thing should hold true with SoT's. Discuss/flame away.

I understand differently.
I understand the ability of mixing up any 105 for any skill to make up a specific 110 PScroll.

That is, not necessarily having to use X Magery 105 to make a 110 Magery scroll but it could be any combination of 105s to make a 110 Magery....

Did I understand right or wrong ?

You understood right, but I think the whole point of the message was to allow mixed skills of like levels to be used, because the qty for that many of a single skill was set too high..

Maybe I got it wrong, it's happened before!

I agree that the number required to convert are too high. Unfortunately, after there was no dev response to the thread, I upgraded what I had on hand. I don't think there is any intent on the part of the devs to correct this. That's very unfortunate as the bonus doesn't justify the time it takes to collect the now too many scrolls per binder. You're better off just spawning.

/signed, etc. Sometimes when devs are quiet on something it means that they are aware of the problem and working on a fix and would rather not have people freaking out over it until it's fixed. I'm gonna guess this is one of those things, but you never know.

I can afford 120 PSes for the skills I need, so it's not really affecting me a lot one way or the other, but on behalf of those who cannot, I think the numbers should be tweaked downward.

Not on my shard...

Besides now that large guilds who spend time farming them and keeping control of champ spawns know about converting them and binding them seeing anything less than a 120 on a vendor will be extremely rare.

I fail to see how this is going to benifit the small guy who doesn't have 300 million gold and isn't in a big fel champ guild.

The only ones I see getting any benifit from this are the ones who are already benifiting....

I agree Maplestone..this is certainly a lose to new players who could at least work their way up to elder or sometimes mystic while saving for the more expensive legendary scrolls. Now they will most likely have to be content with GM skills until they can afford a 120. It is unlikely that anyone will be dropping their discards or even leaving them in the dungeons when they can just as easily throw them into a scroll binder until they get a 120. IF the prices of the 120's drop as some people seem to think they will, it might work out alright. Time will tell I guess.
