Ahoy fellow seafarers and landlubbers of Catskills!
As some of ye may have already heard, I am taking my leave from Catskills. After 13 years of adventure on this great shard it is time ta set sails and travel to new shores. I have dropped me anchor on the Europa shard 2 days ago and built me a small cottage by the shore south of Vesper. I was admitted to the Vesper Trading Company and will be haunting the seas of Europa under their flag from now on.
The reason for my leave is mostly that I (as a player from Europe) am having more and more trouble being around at Catskills prime time (which is 2 am and later for me). Being able to play at a decent schedule now, I'm enjoying very much the extensive RP community on Europa.
Except for my crafters, I left all characters on Catskills and I'm starting from scratch on Europa. So don't be surprised if ye come across a fellow with the name of Hawkeye Pike or Sharkeye Pike. They still live on this shard and may show up occasionally.
The United Pirates guild as well as the Jolly Roger Inn will be kept alive. I hope that someone new will come and take charge of pirate matters one day, and I will gladly transfer guild leadership and headquarters to that person. Although having announced my plans on the UP board some time ago, unfortunately I didn't find a successor yet.
I've been playing solely on Catskills since 1998, I am no multi-shard-hopper. I have met a lot of great people during my time here, and it was not easy to make the decision and leave all that behind. 'Cause I knew that when I'd leave, it would have to be final.
I want to say good-bye to all those who I call my friends, those who were my companions, those who helped and supported me. You will not be forgotten. But also to the people who I may have annoyed, robbed, slain or demanded tribute from. How did one great criminal once say: It was not personal, it was business.
I want to thank all those pirates who were loyal brothers in arms for many years, those who joined us and made us laugh with their unique character and style, those who returned to Britannia in order to be part of our pirate brethren, and those who just sailed with us for some time and left again. You made the United Pirates what it is!
You still can participate in my future adventures on the Ultima Online Travelogues site. And ye are always welcome to visit me on Europa, free ale is guaranteed.
I wish Catskills and especially its RP community all the best for the future!
Signed,
