Our money pays for numerous things you'd probably not approve of, but that doesn't make them any less necessary. If the only customer contact EA got was through UHall I dread to think what game we'd have now.

I guess it's true, no matter what EA folks do, there is always someone on UHall who can find some complaint about it.

This is from the marketing fund. If they don't spend it then it does not mean the money can go towards hiring another developer. EA might have a system where if you don't spend the money you get less later on. So better to spend it then not.

What are you doing wasting the coal and oil required for that energy and contributing to the global warming. Seriously, global warming is an issue but lets be realistic here. You could eliminate computer games entirely and make people take up bike riding as a hobby which would help with global warming too, but are you willing to do that? So the brokers and UO gold sellers (and other 3rd parties who desire to earn their living through playing a game) can meet the devs and get friendly with them and have less chance of being banned if they get caught scripting or duping or hacking accounts?


For some who wish to earn money off UO meeting UO staff at these townhalls gets them a blurb in FoF.

Their ingame "event" gets written up by an EA staff member on Stratics which will lead SOME people to assume that it is safe to trust these other "players" ingame.


That's false advertising because of course it's not 'safe' to trust other players (especially those who stand to earn a monetary profit irl) ingame.


So while these meetings probably are fun for a few players, they are business meetings to others, and probably do more harm than good to UO (considering that most people who sell UO for real cash have been caught cheating at some point in the past 10 years).



Come on now, the UO devs are human beings after all. Wouldn't YOU UNban your best friend from a townhall meeting if they got caught cheating got banned and then emailed you swearing their innocence?

There is nothing about my post that so much as suggests that I don't care or disagree that we are running out of oil.

You're the one that implied that there could be such a thing as "necessary" global warming.

I also have an odd feeling that if no Town Halls were announced, you'd be whining about that too.
