I have been gone 3 years and its been even longer since I hit 120 on my main tamer. I took my t-hunter/tamer out today to start working his taming up to 120 so I don't have to wear jewelry anymore and can use those slots for something else. I decided that since he was 101.3 I would do ridgebacks and use the paint like I did back in the day. I put on my paint and went to the savage camp in Ilsh and tamed one, as soon as it tamed I walked off because I knew in seconds the savages would be on it. Much to my suprise my savage kin paint exploded and I was lucky enough to recall before I was killed. I thought maybe I did something wrong so I put some more on and went near blackthornes castle, tamed one and dragged it to a savage. The savage killed it and no harm to me. I tried it on a couple of others with no ill effects so I went back the the savage camp. I tamed 2 and dragged them over to savages with no issues. As soon as I left one tamed and ran off to get another, I got blasted again by my savage kin paint exploding. Not once did I tell any to kill. Was it because I did not tell it to follow me, was it because I left the screen before it died, or is that now broken or nerfed?

Hmm... if you tell it to "stop" and then tell it to "follow me" it should be in passive mode and will not hit back when the savages kill it. Yet, if it is not in passive mode it will hit back and your paint will explode.

The actions of your pet counts as your actions.

Apart from that I have no clever answers to your questions :-/

I'd suggest taming the ridgebacks by the pond rather than the camp, then you don't need any savage paint at all. You might meet the odd savage, but I usually just kill or move them off to the side to kill tamed ridgebacks on.

I was doing that too but it takes longer, this is my 3rd tamer and I am trynig to speed the grind up a bit lol. The savages are nice in the camp because they kill one while you are taming the other and you don't have to watch out for anything else either

Heh, I used to think the camp was slower, guess it's down to perceptions there :D I tame and release the dire wolves so they don't bother attacking me and then use those to kill the ridgies unless there's a stray savage to use instead.

Or you can do what some of us do these days and tame stuff like zoo turnin beasts and cu sidhe instead. I can't say the gains are super efficient, but at least you're getting some benefit while you wait for the next one lol.

Now thats an idea! I never thought about that but I could get some gains and get points for turning stuff in. Is that just good for titles and sashes or do they have other stuff you can get as well? Thanks for the idea :)

I have been taming in Kirins and donating them. I seem to get the same rate of gains as with ridgebacks but I have the avantage of the donations.
