Sampire thats stuck.

Hey fellow warriors.

Im in a bit of trouble with my gear and skills as a sampire. Currently my account is limited to 700sp as i only returned to UO after a several year break and selling my old account. i have been semi working on a sampire for a few months now and my gear consists of this:
weapon: Daisho 50 HML 50 HSL 50 HLL 25 SSI 44DI
Mace and Shield, Jackle,
Rune Beetle,
Ring of Vile,
Fey Legs,
Gauntlets of Nobility,
Cunjorer's Triket,
Quiver of inf,
bracelet with 3 Dex 5 int DCI 14 DI 19 PR10,
And some crafted resist shoulders with 7 stam HPI 4 MR 2.

i have spent some time building this set, yet it still really sucks... I only have 70/43/53/66/51 Resist... Relay disappointing, i cant seem to fit any more resists in this set, i also only have 39 DCI.. Either i must swap the Rune beetle for Lion, which i don't really wana do. or i replace the fay legs ore resist items. but even Less DCI. What am i missing?

Wat should i do to improve my resist and DCI without totaly breaking my character?


Also... i have only managed to get +20 parry scroll currently at 110, it does not seem to gain any skill at all. and my Bushido is only 104.9 and again im lucky to get +2 or 3 skill every 4 hours. spaming momentum when possible.

any help with these issues would be great

Ditch the arties.

I just made a suit imbued from the ground up for my sampire, and the only arties I have are conjurer's trinket and the Quiver of Infinity (oh yeah, and that new robe from Tyball -- might switch to a Cloak of Death though), and I'm at max HP, 70/70/70/70/68, 28% LMC, 40% HCI, 100% DI (w/weapons), and 186 Stamina. The only real downside is that I'm at 35% DCI (which I have decided I'm ok with). Arties weigh you down...use them sparingly and only where needed. I can see an argument being made for keeping the fey leggings and RBC and maaaaybe M&S (although Folded Steel are better for sampires), but the rest of it should be replaced by either high end runic-crafted stuff or imbued items.

editing to attempt to be a bit more helpful: If you go the imbued route, all of your armor pieces will look pretty similar. Put Stam Increase on every piece. Put HPI on 3-4 pieces, depending on whether you've got a crimmy and what robe you're using (max HP is 125, apparently...something I didn'tknow until I made this suit). Put LMC in wherever possible. Every piece should have at least 2 +resist imbues -- start out with fire & poison, since those are the hardest to max, and go from there. I believe 3 of my armor pieces had 2 +resists and 3 had 3 +resists. I enhanced everything with spined afterwards (only cause I couldn't deal with the frustration of trying to enhance to horned/barbed), which pretty much took care of phys resist (+30 total to phys). Rings & Braces should have, if possible, only ring & bracelet properties. Both should have +dex, both should have +dci, both should have +hci if you're bothering with hci, both should have +di. The other two properties are at your discretion. Hope that helps.

Arties weigh you down...use them sparingly and only where needed.

Agreed. Certain arties can greatly enhance your suit, but don't go overboard. For sampires, especially, don't underestimate the value of custom jewels.

i dont have the cash to buy a full set of items that are imbued. :/ the sward itself cost me 15m so im kinda broke.

Even at the absurdly high current cost of imbuing reagents, that whole suit (not counting the three arties, which you already have), cost me about 3mil. If you farm your own residue (easy to do), you can do it for under a million (mostly the cost of PoFs). You just need to make friends with an imbuer if you don't have one.

There really isn't another way around it, AFAIK. If you don't want to sell one of your arties, you could always go farm Abyssal Cloth or one of the various essences...they're all going for a bunch right now.

Oh yeah, and keep the sword. That's a good one.

Keep the Mace and Shields and Fey Leggings, and possibly the Jackal's Collar and RBC. Gloves and sleeves you definitely want crafting, and jewelry, two non-artifact jewels are usually best. Especially if you get imbued jewelry.

You want max DCI.
You want resists above 60
You want stamina increase (with your weapon, you definitely want stamina increase).

So my advice:
Fey leggings
quiver of infinity
13% DCI on ring (imbued)
14% DCI on bracelet (keep the brace you have)
Mace and Shield glasses
And on EVERY other piece, look for runic crafted pieces. You'll suffer about 15% loss of damage increase (at first), but you'll never really notice that in the field.

Get rid of the Jackal's Collar and get a crafted gorget. Look at Stormgrip instead of the Gauntlets. They've got different resists and you may find finishing the suit easier with one instead of the other, especially once you get rid of the Jackal's. You can even sell that to use toward getting the other pieces you want.

Thanks, interesting... What kind of stats would you have on the imbued ring apart from DCI?

DCI, DI, and dex are obvious choices for an imbued ring. EP, too, if you chug.
