Sampire suit how to?

New to crafting. Finished training blacksmithing to 120, arms lore to 100, and carpentry to 100. I want to build a suit for my elven sampire. What materials and tools do I need? What process do I use (create w/normal wood or heartwood? enhance? use runic?)

At this point I don't have much imbuing. Artifacts are no problem. Right now I'm using Aegis, Fey legs, and stormgrip, but I can pick up whatever. M&S, conjurers trinket, etc. I haven't found a QoI, though.

Imbuing is going to be your best friend when it comes to constructing suits. Unless you have a close friend who is an artificer, I recommend that you finish training imbuing prior to undertaking this project. Once you've done this, you can craft runic wooden, leather, or plate armor and imbue the appropriate properties.

I agree 100% with Syrus. Your craft skills are terrific and will enable you to make many base pieces for your sampire (and other chars). But to make a full customized suit you are going to need to imbue pieces. At one time there were enough runic armore pieces for sale on vendors to allow you to splice together a workable suit. Those days are over and you can make a better suit now with imbuing your full suit to splice together perfectly.

To get you started, you might consider building your suit plan, crafting the base exceptional pieces/collecting the arties, and then contracting out the imbuing to an artificer. Usually, if you supply all of the ingredients, someone will agree to do the imbuing for free.

Imbuing - like they said, start training it up. Unraveling is a great way to get some free .1's along the way. In the interim you can always ask a friend to imbue for you if you bring him the ingredients needed. But it's better to have an understanding how imbuing works so you can tweak the suit as much as possible to your need, rather than relying on someone else's possibly questionable knowledge of Imbuing...

Woodland armor- There's 2 ways you can go. You can just straight up craft out of heartwood and save the 5HCI/10DI pieces. But those take up one of your 5 property imbue slots. The other way to do it is to craft out of regular wood, pof, imbue, and then enhance with heartwood. There's a breakage chance, so this is the most expensive method - however gives the best results.

Artifacts- Here's where you need to determine what kind of weapons you will be using. Because the slower the weap you'll be using, the more imbued pieces you need with +8 STA, and the less artifacts you can use. I'm using double axes, ornates and other slow hard hitters so I went with only ONE artifact - Mace & Shield glasses. That way I could imbue +8 sta on 5 armor pieces. Now if, for example, you're a fencing sampire, you just do not need 180+ dex...
