Sampire SA Dungeon Experience and Discussion

I'll admit I haven't adventured into the Stygian Abyss nearly as much as I would like to.

So far all I've done is Renowned Wyvrn mini champ. Overall I found the loot to be mediocre, the spawn shifted from fairy dragons too quickly which made it very difficult to loot the mobs killed. The gold seemed to be OK.

Level 1 was Fairy Dragons (what I came here for) Here is what I did. I used 100% physical dmg radiant scimitar that had 3 leeches and dragon slayer property. I ran around and aggro all the fairy drags and spammed whirlwind. These dropped incredibly fast and it was tough to keep up with looting. One large problem I had was they cast the mystic spell that removes vamp embrace. Wasn't too big of a deal since my scimitar had life leech but keep this in mind. Loot was mediocre at best, I didn't get any relic frag loot drops from these. The best loot is the SA ingredients.

Round 2 was the humanoid type spawn (can't remember their name). They are weak to elemental damage so I used a 100% psn dmg bone harvester with DI, SSI, HSL, and HML. I didn't have one on me when I went here, but I"m pretty sure the soulseeker would absolutely destroy these guys. Repond slayer (I think repond slayer works on them?) and 100% cold dmg. I haven't tested this, but if true that 2nd level would be extremely easy with whirlwind. Loot was subpar, gold was good on these. No relic frag type loot. No ingredients. Just a stepping stone to reset the spawn for fairy drags.

Round (2/3 ??) was the normal Wyvrns. Nothing special here, didn't even need a special weapon. I just used a UBWS 30 ssi HML leafblade and did momentum strike. Loot sucked.

The renowned wyvrn. I did this with a Sampire and died once, then i realized that the renowned wyvrn stacks firebreath and 2 hits for an insta kill. I started using my daishos and feinting every 4th or 5th hit and that solved the problem. He went down pretty quick. I had a friend there with me during this but I could have easily solod the whole spawn and champ without issue. The loot was surprisingly bad. I figured I have 1200 luck with perfection but still just got absolute crap.

Boura Pelts - I know this isn't really in the SA Dungeon, but these pelts are very useful for imbuing armor. High land bouras spawn NW of the Ter Mur moongate and every one you kill gives a pelt. I've been farming these for boura pelts as I completely rebuild all of my PvP suits with imbued armor. The best I've done is kill these in 4 shots. I use a double axe with 100% fire damage, DI, SSI, HML. I throw on a bovine slayer talisman, EoO, and honor. I just do double strikes unless the mana leech doesn't go off and I fall below 40 mana, then I lightning strike. Best result I had was 4 double strikes that all connected and leeched and dropped one. I farm these really quickly now.

Curious to know if anyone has had similar success with other mini champs, bosses, or ingredient spawn. I'm looking for detail on whether or not it dropped relic frag type items. how was the gold, and what ingredients you were looking for and why.

I'll be updating this thread regularly as I move on to a new spawn types. I plan to do a new one every couple of days. I'll be collecting all of the data for a Stygian Abyss hunting guide for Stratics. What I would REALLY like to do is use the map that Stupid Miner made and turn it into an image map where they can click the area on the map and it would link to info we collect here.

Just started my character, but I've done the goblin spawn, Demons /Pit fiends and the cavern discard- spawns.- Most were fairly easy. The hardest was killing the renowned Devourer of souls. Killed it easy one day then it stomped me the next. This is an awesome template. No real good loot, just imbuing material.

Renowned rats just take Forever to kill

The cavern of discarded or the goblin spawn with a soul seeker = nap time.

Seriously.

And you don't have to kill the reknowned rats right away, just kite them along while you kill the other spawns. It's a great way to keep yourself healed in the off chance that something does hit you (it happens sometimes in the archer/tinker spawn). When you're done with the third, then take a few minutes to kill the first rat, and maybe get the second dead before you start over again.

The only mini spawn I wouldn't take a sampire to is the slime spawn, and that's because you'll lose whatever weapon/armor you have rather than because it's dangerous.

The big liches (skeletal lich?) aren't a cakewalk if you don't have a good undead slayer weapon or talisman. If you do, it's just like the rest.

Overall, there isn't anything down there that's an actual challenge for an experienced Sampire apart from the already-mentioned fairy dragon spawn.

Wouldnt bother searching for relic fragment items, just look the ingredients and you'll be fine. If you need relic frags just sell the ingredients and buy some.

Oh and the Renowned suck for loot, out of 60-100 i havent gotten an artifact either. No real reward for killing them except to restart the spawn.

oh yeah, that's the bit I forgot to add.

The loot sucks everywhere, and the gold drops are pretty average. The only reason to do the mini-spawns is for the imbuing stuffs.

I've done about 2/3 of the spawns going after various ingredients and have found pretty much all of them to be about the same as far as difficulty and loot. The only renowned that I even had so much as a hiccup with is the renowned demon (can't remember what those demons are called in there) which hits like a para balron but has a lot fewer hp's. This problem was solved with a bit of judicious jousting here and there, but I'm sure if I'd used a wep with Feint that would have worked as well. So far I've gotten 2 artifacts from countless renowned bosses, both in the Cavern, both on the floor, and both multiple screens away. Seriously, any time you take a renowned down, search the entire Cavern area, not just the one that you killed the renowned in. I found one just outside the entrance to Sutek after I'd killed Vitavi over in the spellcaster spawn area.

I've been farming Daemon Claws, so I tackled all three of the fire demon spawns (caldera, ancient temple and the one near Ter Mur entrance with a Fire Elemental Renowned as boss).
Aside from the fire ants, which are insanely hard for the level and loot, the only real issue is with the Fire Demons themselves, since they have a very strong firebreath equivalent attack that deal 60ish damage to a 64 fire resist suit when they're at full health.
The solution I found is good ol' Soul Seeker with a Flame Slayer talisman: Lava Elementals (which have the best loot, BTW) are down in 4/5 hits, and Fire Demons don't take much longer - I suggest using Evasion for the first bout, to help with the full health firebreath, and avoiding EoO unless in a very good situation and totally in control. Also, whirlwind can be devastatingly effective against all of these enemies, except for the darn Ants, of course.

Anyway, I believe the easiest of these spawns to be the ancient temple one (between the caldera and the wisps), with the caldera being the hardest/most annoying, mostly due to geography =)
