Same char name problem?

So I've tried playing on Seige again and 1 of my accounts has a crafter on that shard that I've worked off and on for the last 10 years.

Whenever I play that char I will make macros, change the skill list around, etc...Then when I log out and log back in the next time everything is reset to what it used to be. Obviously it's getting very old.

This is in the CC and the name of this char is the exact same as a char on my primary account, if that matters. I've checked the UO files and I have the 6 different account names/shards/individual chars in those folders.

Any ideas that don't involve a name change token or deleting the char?

The same name issue should not be a problem unless they are the same name - on the same account and on the same shard.

In this case - I have to ask if you are actually logging out? or just hitting the Red-X in the upper right corner to close the program. Only a proper log-out will save the desktop settings and macros.

I would have you check the EA Games folder, located in your documents folder. Drill down to the shard and char you are playing and see if the folder is actually there for him. If it is, I have no idea why it is not saving for you, like Taz mentioned, are you using the UO log out from your paper doll?

Yep I am logging out using the quit game option, not just "X"ing out and yep I've dug all the way down to the individual folder of that character on that account and even looked to make sure there were the same 7 files as all my other chars have which are:

chardata.mul
desktop.uos
macros
macros2d
Multicache
skillgrp.mul
uo.cfg

Yeah I have tried everything I can think of which is why I thought maybe it was the same char name causing a problem, cause I'm out of ideas.

Ok problem solved.

After digging through the files of all 6 accounts I noticed that on my main account there was not only the different Siege char on that account, but also a folder for that Seige crafter. After deleting that and logging in on the crafter, everything was set to the default settings, then I copied the folder that was in my main account to the secondary account and everything was like it was before, only now it all saved when i made changes and logged out. So for whatever dumb reason it was loading the macros from the char folder under a different account and not saving anything anywhere.

I also found a few other folders from yet another secondary account under my main account on my main shard, which explains why about half the chars on that account also would not save.

Doesn't make alot of sense since you'd think it would look for the account folder first, but at least it's fixed.
