I havent had time to play around with the new metal cloth tubs... BUT im assuming it is safe to throw away all my old halloween cloth that is just taking up valuable storage?.. No hues that were missed or anything different?

I was soooo close to getting the set after the second year of begging for it; but yes, everything I've seen indicates that the dye tubs were a way to put the colours in game more legitimately, and the 156 colours are the same 156 as the Halloween Cloth.

I was able to obtain around 140 differant color's, but it's not a big deal, I had fun trying to get all the colour combo's, and will most likely hold onto mine just because of the effort I made to obatin them in
the first place. I'll just label them as acquired via begging.

I had some cloth that didn't match to the colors on the cloth tub, but Im going to double check after the holidays to much to do.

No. I don't think the metalic cloth tub matches the halloween cloth. It has the same colour set as the existing metalic dye tub for metals.

That's how Nimuaq and I worked out the exact range Petra, the Halloween cloths were appearing in the same range as the metallic dye tubs and there are 156 for that tub. He wrote a LUA script to call the colour code of an item, but there's also an included macro in the Pinco UI to do the same and check the exact hue (also useful for telling the extremely close parrot colours apart). However I was away from home during the first appearance of the gifts, so I don't yet have access to the tubs on Europa to confirm.

If anyone wants to check against the tub, I had 136 of the Halloween cloth, and they ranged from 09c5 (2506, R:0 G: 204 B: 102) to 0a54 (2644, R: 204, G: 0 B: 102)

I've also put the cloth boxes to public, if someone wants to wander by to check with their own tub; they're at 47.06N 42.07E on Europa; you'll need the EC though to see how they are correctly sorted. (There's also all the none-rare parrots, sorted from dark to light, on the rear tower roof if you want to test which colours you've got)

Ahh. I stand corrected. Thank you :)

Is the old Halloween cloth dye-able?

If not, then it might have a certain value for collectors, because not only can you say it's older than the metal dyed cloth, but you can have empirical proof of such. "Here, try to dye this..."

Ok, Mic/Grotsnik kindly lent me one of his metallic cloth dye tubs. The internal menu is a little odd but I can now confirm the results as follows;

First Halloween Cloth hue: 09c5

First Base, Top Highlight: 09c5
First Base, Second Highlight: 09c6
First Base, Third Highlight: 09c7

Thus the Halloween Cloth matches the starting point of the range, and progresses as it does.

First Base, Final Highlight: 09d0
Second Base, First Highlight: 09d1

Colours continue in order between sets. All values are Halloween Cloth ones still too.

Last Halloween Cloth hue (that I have, that as far as I know is the final colour) : 0a54

Final Base, Bottom Highlight: 0a66
Final Base, Second from Bottom Highlight: 0a65
...

Ahah, the Dye Tub has a slightly larger range than the Halloween Cloth. Further testing revealed that the entire bottom set (the grey helmet icon) of Base/Shadow colours is new, starting at 0a5b.

The final Highlight choice of the second from bottom Base is 0a54 instead, which is the final Halloween cloth colour.

For those who can't read hexidecimal notation, that means there's a gap in the colour values of 7 spaces between 0a54 (end of one set) and 0a5b (start of final set) ... 7 is smaller than the range of each set, (12 in each set) so either those 7 values on the code table are blank, and they've just left a gap there to separate out old and new sets, or possibly there are colours there that exist in the Halloween cloth range, but which never dropped for me; the odds on that happening are extremely high (I have 136 of the Halloween, and for 7 in a group right at the end to not appear would be pretty impressive; the largest other remaining gap is 2 in a row), but in theory it could happen... I doubt it has though.

So to conclude;

Halloween Cloth................ 144 hues, 09c5 to 0a54
Cloth Metallic Dye Tub....... 156 hues, 09c5 to 0a54, and 0a5b to 0a66

Unfortunately, it can be dyed by both the white and normal dye tubs, so it's now identical to cloth coloured by the new dye tubs. Which I suspect is the real reason they've added it in... the spoilsports couldn't stop us making Halloween cloth, so they gave it to everyone :p Still, you can always set the new tub to Default, and return all the halloween cloth to plain, then cut it up into bandages...

Thanks for checking; I was curious, though I didn't collect the cloth myself.

As this was one of my A&A questions to the devs some weeks ago, I tried to identify the colour numbers in EC with Pinco's UI and its "Get Item Hue" functionality, and this is what was showing up:

Metall Cloth Dye Tub Colour Numbers:
1st row - 2501 to 2512
2nd row - 2513 to 2524
3rd row - 2525 to 2536
4th row - 2537 to 2548
5th row - 2549 to 2560
6th row - 2561 to 2572
7th row - 2573 to 2584
8th row - 2585 to 2596
9th row - 2597 to 2608
10th row - 2609 to 2620
11th row - 2621 to 2632
12th row - 2633 to 2644
... (and here comes the only gap in the numbers)
13th row - 2651 to 2662

So colours from Halloween are all ranging somewhere in between there (I only got 126 of all the colours available), thats why I'm gonna dump my whole cloth collection (well, it was fun collecting them in the first place anyway) :)

yep 144 halloween cloth hues

so you can now dye any old cloth the same?
so halloween has no special identity?

big thumbs up there Devs, FAIL

I feel sorry for the players that over the course of a few halloween events have now got a worthless collection

I have a question on the cloth tubs. I've been waiting for these for a very long while and am happy to experiment with the colors on my cloth items. I don't understand how the subdued items like half aprons take the colors. They always seem darker and i haven't been able to get a good looking one with two hues. Most aprons look like a near solid color. Does the two tone look work for aprons?

There are a few hues that show the "two-tone" range better than others. I tried a few hues from the last selectable row and they came threw as a "two-tone".. But there are no hues available with the tub that are as vibrant ,in a two tone, as say the Tangle color.

Yes but you STILL can't make the colors that you see on the Pirates. You look at pirates doublets and you'll see colors that are NOT available to us. Those are the ones I think you ought to be able to dye or get. I can't understand why after I kill the pirate I can't loot his doublet.
