I was feeling bored today, and felt like helpin out. I had noticed there is a relatively new guild hanging around New Haven for the past couple of months, and I saw one of their members on, so I asked to speak to their GM. She showed up a few minutes later, and I asked if they would be interested in an alliance. The next hour was spent with them accusing me of being a guild killer and calling me names. A few other people at the bank chimed in with some snide remarks as well. As I was on an unknown char, and there is a character on our shard who makes a hobby of harassing new players I took it with a grain of salt, and patiently and politely explained that I was interested in nothing more then helping out where I could.
Taking them to my house would have proven that I was not the player they accused me of being, but my castle is in fel, and you can just imagine how well that would have gone over if I popped a red gate and said "come on through". So in the end, I had to just wish them luck, and leave them be.
I have finally GMd every crafting skill, 120d Imbuing, Smith tailoring, and I have nearly every template built. I have a treasure hunter, a fisher, a bard, a couple of tamers, warriors, mages, you name it. I have more gold then I know what to do with, all the items and armor I will ever need, and plenty of equipment that would be perfect for helpin out a new guild. I kind of feel like the rich old guy who has no kids.
I then went and spent an hour sitting in New Haven while browsing the internet, and a Young Player finally ran by. I was SO excited. I tried talking to them.. I asked how long they have been playing UO, if they needed any help or had any questions... All I got back was silence. The cold shoulder.
Just thought it was sad that all you get for trying to help people out these days is an ear full of insults and accusations, or put on the ignore list. Sad times.
