Runic upgrade quest

Most of the runic hammers are now useless due to imbuing.

How about adding a quest to turn in low end runics to bump them up a grade. For example turn in three golden runic hammers in exchange for an agapite runic hammer.

It could be set up as a tiered quest similar to the Thepem and Zosilem quests.
Or a craftable item like the current scroll binder system.

This would solve two problems:
1. Valorite runic hammers are just too rare.
2. Bring the value and usefulness up on the now useless mid-level runics.

The same could be done with all of the runic tools.

Honestly that's fine for Smith Runics, but Imbuing has killed Fletching and Sewing Runics almost entirely.

I buy Barbed kits for almost nothing now, and still crank out armor with them looking for that special piece to imbue to save resources, but honestly... Runic Fletching Tools, Runic dovetail Saws, and Runic Sewing Kits are now worthless at all levels in and by large. I'd rather they get a bump to allow them to make items that surpass imbuable pieces, that or just see them get double the amount of uses they have now.

They ALL need a bump.

There should be a crafting menu similar to imbuing where you can pick and choose the desired mods you want to craft onto an item. The intensity of the mods and number based on the strength of the runic.

One would think a legendary Blacksmith would know what they're crafting.:coco:

Also the default DI that gets automatically placed on exceptional weapons needs to be removed.

I don't know how it is on other shards, but on siege I use the lowest end runics to get 1 expensive to imbue mod to max or up high before I imbue. For sewing, i use spined runics to get pieces with 2 mana regen and 7 or 8 lmc. I guess this doesn't matter much on the prodo shards as dumping 8 million on a imbue for 1 piece of armor is no big deal, since with insurance the cost of the suit doesn't really matter, but here it works perfectly. If anything the lower end runics re more useful with imbue, since you don't get a bunch of junk mods on the suit.

The production shards use this same method on pre-imbued items. It's a cheap fast way to get a few nice mods on an item. I used to sell Dull Copper runics for 500 gold. Now they can go for 90,000 on Pacific.

It's only the mid to high end runics that are basically useless now, since you can imbue a better item without all of the hassle.

90k????????????? I sell them for 9k-10k. 12k-13k the most I can squeze a sale of them in luna at atlantic which sucks even though there the most desireble. Must be something wrong in pacific if it's actually selling at 90k

8mil in production is exactly the same as 800k in seige give and take check broker exchange levels to compare.

Thats the problem easy to get low reward items are infinetely more useful than anything high end it's messed up system and the dev have done nothing to fix it even address the issue just making it worse. Is like they all live only in a pvp only UO world where it's better that people don't do anything or much to get what they need for pvp and think giving theose who don't pvp some monsters and pretty things will satisfy them when they pretty much eliminated all the long term goals a non-pvp player might have. This is explainable as what I hear that the DEV's in charge now are from the pre-trammel era from the days I joined and have not kept up with the evolution of UO since that time.

If there's anything wrong, it's on the Atlantic end, not Pacific.

You really can't judge prices on one shard by the prices on another, but Atlantic tends to be REALLY off compared to other shards, as a general rule. Too many things cost 1/10 or 10x what they do on 3/4 of the other shards, from low-end stuff being too common, while the rare stuff having so many potential buyers that the prices are driven up through competition.

A good example is comparing the perception of what is a fair price for, say, an ASH +60.

When you hear people acting as if a 5 million purchase is a minor purchase, when most crafters on most shards couldn't afford 5 million if they'd farmed gold for a week, to the exclusion of crafting, it really shows the disparity from the oldest high-population shards, and those without a glut of gold and goods.

Thats the thing though. Pacific is a high population shard just like Atlantic. Perhaps only second to atlantic. I could understand the disperacy from lets say Atlantic and legends but pacific is a bit of a shock to me. Prices in pacific and Atlantic has always being somewhat close to each other. I can only explain that if most the pacific boders disapered. This price of dull in Atlantic has being steady since imbuing calm down. How long has Pacific being having this price? Like I said this took me for a surprise. It's a 90% increase. You could basicaly make multiple transfers thousands of thousands of dull from atlantic to pacific and make 90% profit " Though it would be through completed bods instead of runic itself as well multiple transfer tokens.". This is strange margin.

and for reference to this, I sell all 70's, 100lrc, 40lmc 6 piece suits for around 250k spending 800k on a single piece of my suit would be insane on a whole different level, one death and I'm done for the month! Why spend 250k on enough seeds of renewal to imbue MR2 on a single piece of my suit, when i can buy 5 spined runics and get a few dozen pieces that already have that mod for the same price.

The prices stated on runics are a bit interesting though, compared to the gold exchange rate runics cost considerably more here, since they make suits so much cheaper i guess it makes sense that they're in higher demand here though. (I have to admit, if i were to ever play my crafter on origin again, i wouldn't even bother with runics, i'd just dump gold into whatever regs i need to imbue something and be done with it, and not have to play the "runic lottery")

250k is about right as that would equate 2.5mil or so in the production shards. There isn't that many suits these days that go for 10-20 mill in production. It depends of course on availability at the time but looks liek the seige to production levels of gold and item worth are close in par still. Easyway to get 1 billion in production just aquire 100mil in seige and transfer. Not sure how easy it is to get 100mil in seige these days though. Guess is still probably who you know there and how much protection you have.
